Dittomusic , dittomusic.com BEWARE OF DITTOMUSIC ! Liverpool, Nationwide |

I am the Co founder/CEO of a digital record label who recently worked with Dittomusic. First, I would like you to know I am not doing this to be malicious what so ever. I have better things to do than waste my time reporting this. I will try to keep this short and sweet. As of today (6.16.11) it remains to state on their website (dittomusic.com) that "Nearly all releases are going live on iTunes within 24 hours of sign up. When you upload your music it will arrive at the iTunes store within minutes. Recently iTunes releases have been going live within hours of receipt. Quickest has been just 3 minutes." And for other stores they state "We deliver your music to the sites within 48 working hours. Sites like Medianet and Spotify are constantly ingesting a lot of content so it generally takes 4/5 weeks for us to get your content live." With this in mind we uploaded our music (3 artists) exactly 1 month and 5 days away from our projected release date expecting them to be avail on Itunes within a day or so. I sent them a email a couple days before the release asking if they needed anything from us and if things were going smoothly. No response. The release date comes around...and no releases. 1 day after nothing, 2 days, nothing, 3 days nothing...not even a email telling us they were late. 1 week later only 2 of the 3 artists we PAID for were up on Itunes. The soonest Dittomusic has responded to our emails was 72 hours...sometimes it has taken, even a entire week. We understand they could be busy with other releases, but this is totally unacceptable after we have spent our money for their service. I finally decided to try and chat with someone on Skype regarding the issue...to my surprise I was able to get in touch with a anonymous person through their Skype account. I then, explained the issue of 1 of our artists not being available on Itunes and the fact we had put in many hours of promotion and took a loss from this. This person was very helpful and offered us a refund and a free release and directed me to contact "Jay" with Dittomusic regarding the refund and free release. He also made sure the missing release was up on Itunes. After countless attempts to contact "Jay" (6 emails over a 2 week spand) regarding the refund, he finally responds and never even acknowledges the refund. He relays to me that Itunes had problems with the artwork. My question was...Why (2 weeks after the release date) were we notified about that and not when Itunes notified them? Surely Itunes would have notified them sooner than that right? So he "apologizes" and offers a free release. I asked "again" about the refund which his employee had given to us and his response was very shocking. He says to me "In regard to the refund, we agreed to refund you for your distribution however you have only paid for label set up and no distribution payments." From that point on I knew these guys were very unprofessional because not only had I paid for label setup we also paid distribution payments for 3 artists and had receipts for them! After the confusion was cleared, he finally says "We will refund you $20 for the delay" after we had spent hundreds of dollars with them, and spent even more on promotions to have our releases out 1 week late...$20 is what we got as a refund. This is a pile of stinking dog poo!
I have used Ditto Music and I will tell you that the words 'Ditto Music' and scam have no bearing on each other. To be perfectly honest, Ditto Music always respond to you if you call them directly. Another thing that everyone must remeber: DITTO MUSIC IS A GREAT SERVICE AND THE BEST OUT THERE FOR MUSIC DISTRIBUTION, BUT THEY ARE ALSO A BUSINESS. So if they don't give you somehting, just remember that if you were in their position, you would cut some corners somewhere. To sum it up, Ditto Music is a very good 9.3/10. I will not lie and say I have never had problems with them, but to go as far as saying they are a scam, well that's just unreasonable. BTW, try Tunecore or CDBaby and see if they offer anywhere near the service you get from Ditto. (I'm still waiting for an answer...) |

This is the most ridiculous report i have seen. You "have better things to do" but still write out a malicious attack on a company that actually helps unsigned artists. If i ever had questions i have used live chat on the site, and my releases have always gone up in 24-28 hours. I really doubt the authenticity of your post. what is your artist name, where is your iTunes link?
I have used Ditto for years and they are helping bands do lots of things, its certainly ridiculous to say they are shady or whatever your point is. |

While I wouldn't say Ditto Music are scammers I have to agree with the first poster. Currently I 3 releases that have apparently never made any sales - even though I know they have and I've now started to collect documentary evidence to the contrary in the form of iTunes receipts. I have one release they never delivered to anyone - even though I paid for the entire package. Another release for charity did eventually do ok, once the errors were corrected, but I can't get paid as the "request payment" function on the website is broken - even though they keep telling me "it's fixed now". They NEVER reply to email or web forms - I can only ever get through on the phone - eventually - and nothing they have promise to fix has transpired. More than 50% of my releases have had problems - this is not a good percentage by anyone's standard. Having decided to take down my entire release catalogue I'm now waiting for them to process the take down requests - which I made over 12 weeks ago - and seeing how I just had "renewal" bills for several of the releases they clearly haven't done that either.
Another band I work with recently released a single with their chart package and at every stage of the process there were mistakes. The wrong tracks were delivered to some retailers, the OCC registration was messed up and the band had to correct this themselves with OCC, the pre-sale text service appeared to work - up until the day of release when hundreds of people reported no "download" button on the link page they were sent; of 600 pre-sales only 200 were downloaded. I was so, so enthusiastic about Ditto in the beginning. there service appeared to be so superior to so many other and I've given then chance after chance over the last couple of years but I for one will never be using them again. I can't work out whether they really don't care about their customers - or whether they have just grown too big too fast and are totally incompetent. In all conscience though I couldn't recommend them to anyone - quite the opposite in fact. It's a relief in a way to find (as I have) that so many other people are enduring the same problems - I was beginning to get paranoid and think they just had it in for me. |

i'm afraid i've had the same experiance as User546530, terrible timing, useless costumer service, nothign ever happened without ditto making a mistake...right now i've been waiting for my sales report for 3.5 months.
i have written to them counless times, nothing...
so although they might not be scammers at ditto, they are definetely the most useless service i have ever signed up for... |

If you have had a bad experience with Ditto, can you contact me please? We are going to have to bring a lawsuit against Ditto, and we need as many examples of their unprofessional behavior as possible. It seems that Ditto are continuing to behave in the same manner to their clients as posted by User546530.

I recently singed up to ditto music for distribution and for their record label package. So far I haven't made use of the services that I have paid for but I have emailed them a simple request on getting more info and the necessary documents for the record label package that I have already paid for. I did receive an initial response requesting that I email them more info on my label which I did. After that I never got any reply. I emailed them twice after that and finally got a reply one month later promising they would send me the info in a few days. This info has never arrived. I have since sent another 3 emails but have still had no response. It's been a month and a half since my initial email request. So my feeling is these guys are either highly unprofessional or they're a scam. Disappointing because their packages do look rather inviting and promising. Despite the positive comments some people are making here, I as a paying customer have lost faith in their services. You don't run a business and advertise on your home page that you received an award for customer service if you don't actually deliver on that promise. Customer service means customer SERVICE. Not customer delays or excuses, or no replies to emails after one month. I've totally lost faith in the company even though I have not actually made use of the services I have paid for. I hope I'll be able to get a refund but for now I'm just really unhappy and disappointed. |
