Dish Network Fraudlent Shipping Charges Littleton, Colorado |

Fulfilled two year contract with perfect payment history, but was informed at cancellation of the shipping fees to return receivers. Told by three separate customer service reps this is a new "business practice" within the last year. Asked for a copy of my original contract where I agreed/was aware of these fees. Contract could be produced within 14 days which is after the 10 day/$600 deadline to return the equipment....coincidence? Digital world, right? This is no less than extortion and should be treated as such. |

Same situation for me. After 4 years of service, I cancelled and was informed of this charge. When I objected, the rep just kept repeating that the contract indicated it was my responsibility to return the equipment. I, too, asked for a copy of my original signed contract (specifically stating I was not interested in a generic form), and was directed to the "Executive Resolution Team", which is essentially just another group of service reps who repeat the same storyline and, I suppose, hope that I will buy it since it from the "Executive" office. I informed the rep that I would contest this charge, that this was NOT my understanding when I began this service 4 years ago, and that our understanding was that it was indeed our responsibility to return the equipment, but not the cost thereof. I further informed them that I was not notified of this "Business Practice" change, which I know to be a legal obligation on their part. The Executive Team rep then told me that the rep was mistaken, that it had always been their business practice to charge the subscriber for this cost, ever since they began leasing equipment. I intend to check this out with acquaintances, and I am looking forward to getting that copy of my contract. BTW, I was told I had 30 days to return the equipment from the date of disconnection, even though in looking at the generic contract on line it appears to state 70 days. |
