Direct TV Direct TV lies cheats and steals internet, Arizona |

Last Friday 11/20/10 We signed up for Direct TV. I called them asking a lot of questions about service and payment options. I was told they needed a credit card for the sole purpose of verifying credit and no charges would be made to my account. At the time I gave them the debit card number I clearly stated that I do NOT authorized Direct TV to ever remove any funds from my account for any reason. I was assured they never would. Tuesday 11/23/10 I find they removed $19.99 from my account. I called them and was told that it was a one time equipment shipping fee. This is the first I hear of this fee. I repeated they were not authorized to ever remove funds from my account, to which they replied it would never happen again but they could not return the funds. Monday 11/29/2010 I received a bill with a disclosure book. Upon reading the book they claim by signing up for services I have authorized them to remove funds from my account any time and any amount they deem necessary. I called them and requested they remove my banking information from their database and they refused. They cited the need to collect funds at will and stated they have the right to increase my charges at will without notification to me and to collect those fees from my account, again without notice to me. I would however eventually get an email notifying me of the changes. I refused to sign up for their auto pay and received an email that I was going to be charged an extra $10 a month for refusing their auto pay. I called them again to get told it was not an extra fee but that I would have to pay for HD access for refusing auto pay, which is supposedly free right now. I offered to have my bank auto pay to them each month but was I was told I was have to pay the extra $10 a month if I did that. To add to the scam my bill starts out at $66.99 a month and in 12 months goes up to $87.98 for the second year. At the end of my two year contract it goes up again to $111.98. The bill doubles at the end of two years. This does not include any movie channels or packages. They claim they have no escape clause and I am stuck for the next two years or pay $460 cancellation fee plus their equipment and installation fees. They refused to tell me how much the equipment and installation fee would be just that it would be taken from my bank account. Notice how their disclaimer information comes after they sign you up and they have you trapped in their scam. To add insult to injury I requested a DVR that would auto tune. The sales rep assured me that all their DVR's auto tuned. They DO NOT. The only thing they do is record. I wish I had never signed up and if I had known even half of this I would not have signed up. If you sign up with Direct TV you are giving them unlimited access to your money with no recourse. They are free to steal at will and you will find out after the damages are done. They will not respond in any way except to tell you its their policy and you are stuck for multiple years that your contract states or pay an unknown huge fee. To add insult to injury they have their computer call you endlessly to say HAPPY VIEWING FROM DIRECT TV. It will call you endlessly and when you call in they will tell you 7 to 10 business days to stop the automated calling but they reserve the right to keep calling you for promotions and 'OTHER THINGS". I feel they are nothing more than harassing predators. The picture quality is a joke and it pixels often. Pay per views are $5.99 for a few hours usage when Hxxxxs rentals are $4.99 a week. Another scam. Need I continue?
