got a call from shawn mai dec 20th 2010telling me that they increased my rate by 400.00 per year. we agreed to cancel the policy. refund was prommised within 14 days. it has now been 28 days and no refund just the run around. I paid in good faith. they have ripped me off. here are the e-mails between shawn and I. not sure what branch it is and he hasnt returned my request for that info with an answer.

I can assure you that whatever you're thinking is off based. I haven't made a dime from helping you with your insurance. Like I've mentioned in our conversation, we are a not for profit company any profit that we make we give it back to our policy holder. Thus, it is not in the company's interest to make this a normal practice. We are trying our best with the system that we have and the law that we have to adhere to get you your refund. I go a letter of cancelation over a week ago. I am paying interest on this money, and this is not right. I know it's not your policy, but it is wrong. That money was owed to me the minute we decided to cancel the policy. I'm sure by law you must notify me that the policy was canceled, but I'm sure It is aaa policy to hold on to my money. I'm out the 500 to you and the additional money to start another policy. Aaa has lost my auto and home business. It was pleasant to deal with you, but aaa is obviously more interested in them than a customer.

I would expect this from a fly by night insurance company, but not from aaa.

By law, we have to send you a notification of cancellation before we can cancel the policy. This letter could not be sent out until the effective date was in-forced (1-10). As a result, the funds could not be released prior to the effective date. We have recently implemented procedure to expedite your refund check. I'll keep you posted as soon as I get the ETA.
