Denver Dog Works
Denver Dog Works Dr. Robert Forto Deceptive Trade Practice - Robert Forto is NOT a doctor Denver, Colorado
27th of Jun, 2011 by User313164
Denver Dog Works is run by Robert Forto, who claims the titles of PhD and Dr. The citations are rampant throughout his website, Facebbok and Twitter pages. He is also responsible for the "Doctor Dog Radio Show" where the use of the title is more than obvious. The problem is this: Robert Forto cannot use tht title of Doctor or PhD. He "graduated" from Madison University in Mississippi, a rather infamous diploma mill that has not ever been accredited or recognized as a candidate for accredidation by any national or regional association nor the US Department of Education. In the state of Colorado, one must have gained a degree from an authorized degree granting institution defined in the previous sentence in order to use it in the course of business. Madison University is now closed (since 2006, five years after opening its online doors) and is not accepting students or applicants. It is a fake "school" where an individual would purchase a degree/diploma as a set price and not pay per unit/credit. It is indeed a diploma mill that had to shut down which used to grant a certificate after selling some books to the so-called student. This is absolutely not a school that is degree granting as defined by Colorado law and therefore, Robert Forto is not a doctor and cannot use the title. (See here http://search.jurisearch.com/NLLXML/getcode.asp?datatype=S&statecd=CO&sessionyr=2007&TOCId=1812&userid=GUEST9&cvfilename=&noheader=1&Interface=NLL) Since Robert Forto so heavily uses the use of these titles, one would think he is quite the accomplished dog trainer. Unfortunately for customers, by Colorado law, he is not the Doctor he professes to be and is engaging in Deceptive Trade Practice, a violation of CRS 6-1-707 (link above). Be wary when engaging in business with Denver Dog Works, especially if you are basing it off what appear to be great qualifications. I've been to the business myself and on a side note, they employ their children, one of whom is a minor child "trainer" and it seems the family all gained their skills through their in-house certification school. I would exercise caution before entering into a transaction with Denver Dog Works and truly evaluate their qualifications. It should be telling that they willingly deceive public trust by asserting education that does not meet guidelines.
