Someone on our real estate office represented Dana Gaul as the seller of a residence which he owned that was in late stage foreclosure. The agent and her team worked diligently and invested significant time and money to find a qualified buyer, negotiated an approved short sale with his bank, and helped Mr. Gaul create an opportunity to avoid foreclosure of an investment property. Once all parties agreed on the terms, Mr. Gaul turned around and changed the terms on the buyer, and demanded the buyer pay him thousands of dollars outside of escrow. This potentially illegal request resulted in the buyer cancelling the transaction and leaving everyone in our office looking foolish. In addition to collecting tens of thousands of dollars in unreported rental income from the property for sale, he did not disclose this rental income to his lender during the short sale negotiating process. I was deeply disturbed to learn that unbeknown to everyone in our office, Dana Gaul was actually a licensed real estate broker with the State of California. This was never disclosed to the buyer as required by law, and created a significant liability for the broker in our office. Our experience working with Dana Gaul was such a bad experience that we wanted to share it with you.
