Although I did not report it the first time this happened (anyone can make a mistake), when it happened again I decided it was time to go public. The current prescription was for 20 Hydrocodone pills (for after surgery).
I took one pill last night so I could sleep and have not taken any since as I had to drive today. Tonight I went to take another one and found I had 14 pills in the container, which means they shorted me 5 pills.
I did call the pharmacy and complained, and they stated they would have the 5 missing pills ready for me to pick up. Since I have taken one, I told them I would have to do it tomorrow.
I have never had this problem with Rite Aid - which is our normal pharmacy. I'm beginning to wonder if the CVS pharmacy people ever pay attention to what they are doing. This is a 24 hour pharmacy and I went in once after finally getting out of ER at 10:30 PM with a prescription that the doctor's wanted me to take within an hour. The pharmacy told me they could fill it but it would be 6 hours before it would be ready. I threw a fit and they had it ready in 20 minutes. I complained to the store manager and the company and never heard a word from either. |

My husband and I filled his scripts at a 24 hour CVS after being seen at the ER for a seriously infected tooth. one of the scripts was for 20 Oxycodone. He was given a pain killer at the hospital so he didn't need to take one when we got home, but he wanted to see what size they were (he hates taking big pills) and noticed that they only gave him 10 pills. He called the pharmacy and they told him that they don't make mistakes like that. We went back to CVS after we called them and they told us that the inventory was correct. We asked to see the manager who told us they were looking at the video tapes. She came back and said they would have to do inventory in the morning. I told her that I wanted to be in the store while they were doing the inventory and the manager told me it would be at 9am and she would call me if it was going to be earlier. 8am the next morning the pharmacist called me and told me that I had to wait for a phone call from the manager to tell me what they found and she wasn't going to be in until 12:00. I feel that the pharmacist was hiding something and didn't want me in the store. I contacted the District Pharmacy Manager. My husband has to have surgery, but he has to heal first and the infection has to clear up. Unfortunately, he will be in pain until he is able to get the surgery he needs. Now he will have to suffer without his pain medication!! |
