I currently work at the company and am writing this as I cannot stand to watch this company do business any longer. I will be leaving this company in the coming weeks (resigning) and just want to make sure that future companies are aware of what they are getting and future employees are aware what they are getting into.

Clients:

The Good:
This company prides itself on customer service. It should. This is about the only thing the company can do right. If you are a potential client looking to do business then these guys will look great to you. They make sure your issues are taken care of and will uphold the contract they sign with you. If you have a problem, thats no problem, all the top executives are available 24 hrs a day to deal with complaints. This is part of their sales pitch...let me tell you..its 100 percent true.

The Bad:
This company doesn't rip you off when it comes to customer service, but rather when it comes to the staffing they provide. In other words, its how they function internally that hurts the service they provide.

In their sales pitch they will state that they supply people with highly qualified and highly trained people. This is far from the truth. Currently, at the site I work, they have employed people that have no previous experience, give them four hours of training, and then send them on the way. The "Training" by the way is just another guard showing them how to perform daily tasks on the site. These people that I have trained are just there for the moment and plan on leaving the moment they are offered something better. They also state something about GLAD training in their sales pitch. This is nothing but a 1 hr class to teach common sense customer service. If they offer such highly qualified people then most wouldn't need this class (think about it, do you need a 1 hr common sense seminar on customer service?).

They will bid low on your contract because they will pay the guards some low low rate. This gives you the worst service in security. After all, its the guards that are doing the work in the contract, not the owners and executives. The guards don't care about being there, trust me, if something went wrong where I work for the wage I am paid, I am the first one out the door. Also, when I say low wages...I currently make about 8 dollars an hour. The turnover rate here is ridiculous. I don't know about you, but I would want someone that knows my property to be guarding it. Not a new face every 3 to 4 weeks (which is the current rate at the moment). Also, if they are going through so many people who do you know who to trust? Its a numbers game and eventually they will put the wrong person on your site and things will go wrong.

They sell you on no criminal backgrounds. Let me ask you....how do you know.

Overall, if you a company that just wants too pay a low rate to have a warm body in a uniform on your property, then this is the company for you. However, be careful, cause when crunch time comes I can almost guarantee that employee wont be there for you. If you are a company that cares about the type of security you get, then hire someone else for a little more cost. At the end of the day they don't care about you if their company doesn't care about them. You may get some of the bad of this company in another, but it may not be as rampant. Employees:

The Good:
This company always has positions open. You can get a job for the time being if you willing to work off hours for crappy pay and but up with the BS of people on power trips. Depending on the site you work you may only get 1 or 2 of those circumstances.

The Bad:
Where to start :). When you receive a call from this place they will call you in for an interview. Dress nice and look sharp. If you walk in and they don't like you...you wont get the job. However, after seeing some of the people they hire, you won't have to try to hard. They may tell you varying stories when they hire you. Know these things: You will pay to be finger printed, you will pay for uniforms, you will be paid the rate the give you for a while (good luck getting a raise), you will have to kiss ass to move up, politics are rampant in this company. The benefits are s**t. They have recently moved to a new program, but even that leaves something to be desired. You are a number...that is it. If you are hired into the corporate office, some of these things will be different, but you are still a number.

You are required to pay for you company required pre-hire stuff because of the high turnover in the company. You may be stuck at a site where there isn't enough people and constantly called on your days off to work. You may work with people that are untrustworthy or just plain lazy. This company is so short staffed that they fire people and re-hire them.

You will have a schedule. Do not plan anything after work. If your relief doesn't show up guess who has to stay? Thats right...you. They will first ask you to stay. If you say no...they will tell you to stay and threaten your job. Depending on the site they may or may not try to find relief to come in for you..I have experienced both. Some may argue that this is the job, thats fine, just tell me when you hire me and pay me more than minimum wage (which is what some sites make, BTW)

Because of the employee turnover your site may be short staffed and time off (wanted or needed) will get denied. Also, you may be required to work hours not agreed upon when hired.

To sum it up: They pay an unprofessional rate and expect professional work. They expect you to be devoted to them, when they could care less about you (I have heard "I do not care about the guards" from the owners). Hearing that is what prompted me to write this. If you are new to security then you may want to take this job to get the experience in security. Remember, we are paid for the responsibility that we have and the work that we do. Yes, you may sit on your butt all day and watch cameras, but if something goes wrong...who is going to blamed and faulted first...thats right the security guard. If someone breaks into the site who's life is at risk right off the bat? Thats right, the security guard (Don't forget we are unarmed in most cases).

We hire employees for life. This is on the website. It should read, we hire employees and hire employees and hire...well you get the point.
