WARNING: DO NOT BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OR TECH SUPPORT OFFERED BY GATEWAY. IT IS A SCAM THEY DO NOT HAVE A TECH SUPPORT TEAM, THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND LEAVE YOU HIGH AND DRY. HERE IS A SHORT REVIEW OF MY STORY My computer (which is only 2 years old) suddenly crashed on me the other night. So the following morning I called Gateway to see if they could help me figure out the problem. They immediately informed me that my warranty had expired. Which I already knew. So the lady on the phone,( I could provide her name and badge number, but I dont think I am supposed to) told me I could purchase a one time help from tech support for $99.99 or for $149.99 I could purchase a years extended warranty. Obviously, for the money I went with the full year extended warranty. I was given a warranty number and a toll free number to call to speak with a computer tech. When I called I was asked for my number that was assigned to me, and the operator informs me that I now was using 1 of the 5 claims allowed. I was NEVER told there was a 5 claim limit. I was told it was a 1 year extended warranty. To me this is fraud by deception. So, the first tech kept telling me that my problem was with my monitor, which I knew better because I had tried a couple different monitors that I knew worked and still had the same problem. So he hung up on me. The 2nd tech, informs me after reading the notes, that he believed it was the cable from the tower to the monitor, for me to go purchase a new one and call back. So I did. Still the same problem continues, the 3rd tech, tells me that the only other problem it could possibly be was the video graphic card, so told me to go buy a new one and have a tech at the store install it, so back to town I go again, purchase a Video graphic card, pay to have it installed still the same problem. I come home and call answers by gateway again, now quite angry because I have spent over $300 dollars and NOTHING. So the 4th and final person I speak with it a supervisor, he tells me that there is nothing they can do, I need to hire a local tech and have them repair my computer, have a nice day. So I try to call Gateway back, get a refund because of the deception involved with this warranty process. It is impossible to reach a live person now because they have my phone number in their system and the computers SNID #, so the audex automatically tells you to call answers by Gateway. Now we reported it to our bank and the funds are being frozen until further review. |
