I needed a new computer for school and decided against buying a new mac as they are very expensive. My boyfriend asked me to find myself the computer and he would purchase it. I see this store by my house often with several signs which indicate that their prices are cheap and they carry quality product. This signs are a LIE! Everything in the store is used, refurbished crap the bottom of the barrel kind of stuff. I saw the Macbook I wanted and it looked great. The computer hardly had any scratches on the surface at all, it almost looked new. I played with the computer a bit, only to see if everything worked ok. Of course there were absolutely no programs downloaded on the computer so there was not much to play with. The owner of the store comes out to tell me this is a refurbished computer, it's a great computer, running on the latest software, it's maybe about a year maybe two years old. He also promised me to get me the office programs for free since that is part of buying a used computer from his store. I asked again about the year of the computer and he said it was most likely an 08. I believed him and I didn't see anyway of finding out the year of the computer but it looked fine and the features seemed to work well too. I take the computer home, and I took about a week to utilize the computer. I download a program and the program doesn't work, I go to youtube the browser closes, I download a new browser it doesn't work. NOTHING WORKS! I call him to tell him my issues he says to "I know absolutely nothing about mac, I sell them straight out the box" this is a completely different story than what I heard when he was trying to sell me the computer. He was a mac expert before he actually had my money. he then tells me "Take it to apple there is nothing I can do for you" I asked if I could return it or exchange it he tell me absolutely not his return policy is 7 days!! I finally found out the computer is actually an "07" when I bought the computer we were about 24 days from 2012 did he forget how to count?! he said two years. The operating system is so old I don't have the minimum requirements to run any programs. Now I am suppose to go to apple and purchase a newer operating system and pay to have a ton of upgrades done to my computer. I payed $700 for a computer that I can't use unless I pay more money for!! I am spending the exact same had I would if I purchased a new mac. I was totally Ripped off and the guy has the nerve to tell me that this is my issue and not his and I can't expect him to do anything. |
