Compu-Electronics was at an expo in Rome,Ga. We went to look for a laptop computer for my 11 year old step daughter. We looked at laptops in the $300.00 range. The ones we were shown looked fairly new.We picked out a Dell laptop with curved indented lines on the top. The sale rep told us to look around while he downloded windows works on it. I purchase the laptop before it was ready to pick up on my Chase credit card.On the invoice it stated no exchanges or refunds. When it was ready we pick up a white box and went to the car. In the car my 11 year old step daughter opened the box and said it's all there. We got home and when I took it out of the box I noticed it looked different from the one I had purchased. The lines on the top of laptop were stright and it looked very used. I plugged it in and noticed it started getting hot on the bottom. The longer it stayed on the hotter it got to the point of not being able to keep it in your lap. I tried to setup the laptop and was able to get it connected to my wireless router and setup her email. I gave her my cooling pad and she tried to us it.It would not download music and was very, very slow to operate. This was on Saturday July 9,2011. On Monday I called Chase and explained the situation. I told them about the no exchanges or refunds on invoice. We started a dispute claim.I asked them if I needed to call the computer company. They said not at this time.Recived a letter from Chase to fill out about the dispute. It asked if I had contacted the company. I called Compu-Electronics and left a message. Evelyn Robinson returned my call and left me a message to return the computer to the expo on the weekend ( I have this message on my cell phone). My partner took the laptop back to the expo.Expo rep wanted $6.00 for him to get in the expo.He told him he was there to return a computer.A sale rep from Compu came over and stated arguing about no returns. My partner told them the credit card company and the computer company knew the situation and compu rep Evelyn instructed us to take the computer back to the expo. He did not get a name or receipt for the return. Now Chase will NOT dispute the claim without a receipt. I have emailed compu about sending a receipt or letter to state They have their computer. Compu sent a letter to Chase stating I still have the computer.I DO NOT HAVE THEIR LAPTOP COMPUTER.I hope the company does the right thing, but after reading all the complaints I dout it. I'm out $355.00. Expences lesson to learn. I should have went to Wal Mart first. |
