I purchased and paid full price for three Edgestar 12 volt portable freezers because I hoped to sell the extras with my solar power system that I use to run them. The one that I was using as a refrigerator in our garage powered by solar pannels stopped working all of a sudden. It is out of warranty so I called the company for some troubleshooting advice. I was told to check the yellow wire that connects to the controller. While investigating this yellow wire I discovered that it was not in original condition when I compared it to another freezer. The wire was rapped in heat shrink protection, the controll panel was loose and the sheet metal had been cut into where the wire goes into the unit for sensing the freezer temp. I called the company and asked for some compensation for this dishonest business transaction. They accused me of doing this hack job myself which caused me further distress. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that isn't possible. The best they would do for me was to sell me another one at a discount. $400 was the discount. Why would I buy another one and give them more profit when I have been cheated with an inferior product. I really like the freezer and have shared it with hundreds of people while promoting my solar system. But I cannot do business with such a dishonest company!! First they sell me a refurbished product at full cost, then they accuse me of the inferior rework, and then they blow me off with another dishonest resolution!
