PARENTS AND STUDENTS BEWARE OF COLLEGIATE HOUSING1!Sending second son off to college twelve hours away. Chose Collegiate Housing with the understanding that these college boys were in apartment complexes together, like dorms. From the get go did not receive any paper work in mail prior to orientation on where he would be living. Told on the phone they still were in the process of purchasing the buildings. Finally the week before we were given a name. Went a week early to check out the complex and the safety of the area. During orientation, rules, policys and lease were given. His assigned apartment was different than what I was given over the phone. When moving him in found out he was in a building with elderly people, single mothers and families. Four eighteen year old, young men, from different states put into an apt. on second floor. Below them a couple, with one on Dialysis The complaints stated from the very first day, noise. Boys going to class at two o'clock in the afternoon to eight fifteen at night to than come home and make dinner, what were they thinking. Boys pulled out of class by Susan Williams to be repremanded, and called by her on cell phones time after time. When my son called one night to tell me he was threatend to be shot, because they were outside making noise, I stepped in. My son has a bleeding disorder called Hemophilia, Factor VIII and was scared this man could wait for him one night and follow through. He has not stayed their since. Collegiate Housing will not let us out of the lease with out paying two months rent at $569 monthly and $50 security deposit we lose our deposit and it cost me money for a u-Haul, gas and time to move him again. These are unuaual circumstances and I wanted to find a safe, college friendly home for my son. Instead they would only relocate him to another complex where they had an opening, with people he wouldn't know again. Collegicate Housing has restrictions beyond belief, no internet, no overnight guests, (siblings) from out of state, limit on thermostats, cleaning fees for furniture when they move in. Susan Williams said to me "if it makes you feel any better, all our boys from UTI have had complaints". Which I than spoke to the manager and she said that wasn't true. Along with her making fun of him that his mommy called. My son has a medical disability, where death can occur if their is trauma.Yes, I got involved, I am twelve hours away. Someone shoots him, he could die before I got their. This is not appropriate housing for children who are going off to college. So parents, go to your childs college, find housing that is appropriate for young people. My son has been with another boy, in an apartment. With the other students coming over everynight. NO complaints, second floor and cheaper. Without all the restrictions. This is suppose to be a time to remember, have no stress other than school work and focus on those grades. NOT THREATS! NO NOISE COMPLAINTS! AND MY SON IS AN "A" STUDENT READY TO SUCCEED IN THIS . |
