collectorsinternet Jim Sears 2 months without coins, 8 days no refund los angeles, California |
27th of Jan, 2011 by |
am having difficulty recovering my $890 that I sent Collectorinternet in Nov. 2010. On the 20th of Jan finally got ahold of Jim Sears via email because their phone is blocked, wonder why. He was very apologetic and requested I resubmit my order. Not being that big a sucker I requested my money back overnight. I thought two months was long enough for them to hold my money with no product being shipped. He said he would sent it first class on Jan 20....I'm still waiting. The first class mail time is 3 days as per USPS. I was lied to twice regarding check. From other posts I have seen, this ispattern behavior. Send me your stories and we can fix this.

This complaint sounds bogus because in my many years of dealing with them, I've never experienced them having a block phone number. When they are busy, which is often the case since they have thousands of repeat customers (I've seen them line up at some of the local coin shows), they have an answering machine that requests that you email them at [email protected] to avoid mistakes or miscommunication. My attorneys have always advise me to put it in writing if I ever have a complaint, which I have had with CoinUniverse from time to time
In the 48 years I've been collecting rare coins, I've purchased more than $2.4 million in coins from Collectors Internet online, and at least that much by mail order back when they were Hobby Investments in the 70s and 80s. There grades and prices are always fair and in some cases, worked in my favor when I sent them a few coins to PCGS and NGC. I've sold a few coins that I bought from them over the years, and found that dealers prefer CollectorInternet's raw coins over the PCGS and NGC ones I spent a needless fortune on getting "slabbed".
Overall, my purchases from them have more than tripled in value over the past 10 years, and I'm not talking about just because bullion has gone up, as my coins include nearly a complete set of BU and Proof Morgans, including a Proof 65 1895 I paid them $25, 000 each for back in 2003 along with an AU 1796 Half Dollar for the same price. A guy at Heritage offered me $75, 000 for each of them ($150k total) last year. I'm holding on to them. Another good dealer and best-kept secret (until now) is Gary Osmond at www.gfocoins.com - I've also tripled my money on almost everything I bought from him, but he doesn't have quite the selection of CollectorsInternet and CoinHappy . It's a lot easier to buy in bulk and their wholesale lots than spending hours and days at auction sites only to get outbid on coins with doctored-up photos. |

It's pretty sad and sick when people can disparage good long-term dealers such as CollectorsInternet and not even give their name. I'm sure his problem, if it was real, was resolved, but we hear nothing of that. Collectors internet has been online for over 12 years and was the first coin dealer to be accepted by Google Checkout, a multi-billion dollar company that will only partner with dealers who have a sold reputation of many years. I've been buying from Collectors Internet since they first partnered with Google, who backs up all transactions 100%. It's a shame a few bad apples can lie about anything negative and be anonymous. I know for a fact that many dealers do this to bigger dealers they are jealous of and this seems to be the case. |

I've bought a lot of rare coins from both Gary Osmond at GFOCoins and from Jim Sears at CollectorsInternet. They've always given me a good price and many coins that I have bought and sold from them over the years I have doubled to tripled my money on. I suspect those who are condemning these dealers are other dealers themselves. Last time I checked, CollectorsInternet had a 100% positive Feedback rating after over 5, 000 transactions, a A rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and I've heard a lot of good things from other buyers at major coin conventions about Collectors Internet. |
