A so-called college student "Neal Wachovb" (if that's even his real name) came through our neighborhood selling magazines for his USC Toastmasters Club to earn money for a trip to Barcelona, Spain. He was very well spoken as if he really was in that club. He said his parents lived down the street from me and even gave me the address, that she has Bunco night, just moved to the area and was looking for a Bible study group and on and on. However, I should've known better when the address he gave was 5 digits when our addresses in this area were all 4 digits. When I questioned him on that he said no, that street is all 5 digits (I don't have other street #'s memorized so I gave him the benefit of the doubt because that street is divided into 3 separate sections). He said I could cancel in 3 days and showed the phone # to call if I have any questions. He said that he was selling 24 magazines. I said "that's for 2 years then?" and he said "yes". However, I was rushing to get to a meeting so I didn't notice that the order sheet said 1 year, not 2. When I went back inside to get my keys and then walked right back out to question him on that, he simply "disappeared" (I drove up and down the street & he was nowhere in sight). I researched like I should have first and found that the kids magazine I ordered is bi-monthly so he was charging $43 for 6 issues (regular price is about $14 on the internet). I should've trusted my gut and not believed the jerk but I put a stop payment on the check and am sending their stupid cancellation notice via priority mail with delivery confirmation to prove that it got there within the 3 business day deadline. These people are crooks and I will NEVER order a magazine unless it's in my kid's fundraiser. scam !!!!!!
