COAST DENTAL OF LONGWOOD, FL OVERCHARGED AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF LONGWOOD, Florida |
10th of Apr, 2011 by User612958 |
I too had a similiar experience at the office on Longwood Lake Mary Road. Xray equipment was the old school variety, not the new digital that is now available. Took at least 20 min for the x-rays to be done, employees were disorganized and chatting about personal issues. I was charged for 2 office visits, 2 panoramic x-rays, which by the way were NOT taken! AND if they had been taken, my insurance plan covers them! I just got the insurance by the way so no claims had been made on the plan until I chose Coast Dental for my first visit under my new insurance plan. I was told I needed a full mouth debridement - which by the way took about 15 minutes and my teeth do not even look or feel clean after this supposed deep cleaning! I have never been told by any prior dentist I needed this and any regular cleaning & polishing usually takes about 45 minutes - so why does a "below the gum tissue" cleaning only take about 15 minutes and my teeth don't even feel clean afterwards? The hygenist was running behind so I felt like I was rushed out of the chair. I contacted the office for a refund about the overcharges and was told that wasn't possible because it would take weeks to go thru the corporate office and she would credit me towards more dental services -...after I got off the phone, I read up on the "debridement service" on several websites and did some research, it is necessary when the dentist cannot do a full oral exam due to excessive tartar buildup above & below the gumline - well, the dentist did his exam prior to this cleaning & said my teeth and gums were in good shape!!!! Then another woman came (not the hygenist nor a dentist - I think she is the office "pusher" of services) in and told me about the debridement needed and I agreed because I trusted these people were professionals! After the hygenist did the cleaning (approx 15 min or less - no kidding - the fastest cleaning in west or the south since we are in FL!) the dentist never came back in and looked at my teeth - I reflected on the whole visit and felt taken for a ride - |

Coastal Dental Overcharged and also taken advantage of. Gainesville, Florida.
The same thing happened to me in Gainesville, Florida. I made the appointment for check up and teeth cleaning. I was told that the dentist will decide what kind of cleaning I would need. After x-rays and the dentist evaluation, I was told that I need a full mouth debridement and all kind of other charges appeared on my proposed trearment plan including oral cancer screening. I refused some of the treatment options and products and became suspicious of this office. The debridement was not under the gumline as it should have been but I still had to pay the same price as if it was. It was like a regular teeth cleaning but very short (15-20minutes) without the polishing. I payed for the service but left with the feeling of mistrust and taken adventage of. |
