Chatterfly or Chatterfly.com is a mobile loyalty rewards platform that preys upon local businesses under the guise of helping them with customer retention. There is nothing further from the truth than this. If you own a business anywhere in the San Francisco Area then chances are you have been accosted by one of their high pressure, barge into your business at exactly the wrong time "used car salesman" pitches. It's worse than Amway as they won't quit. The basic pitch is that for the low, low price of several hundred dollars a month they will bring masses of new customers to your door with a powerful social networking smartphone application. All you have to do is give away lots of your valuable inventory, pay a ridiculous fee, school your customers on how to download, use and deploy said application as well update their phones, find a special "secret code" to scan and pester their friends with auto generated Facebook spam. Combined with all this is a guilt tripping "Save Your Local Business" spiel that is so contrived it is almost laughable...seriously. These guys and their founder Charles Michael Yim are scam artist, plain and simple. They don't care about your small business at all. They only want your dollars. These types of programs do not work. I was smart enough to make some calls to the businesses listed in their app and NOT ONE had a good thing to say about them. NOT ONE. Try it yourself. Chatterfly likes to walk into your business unannounced, inspect your premise and give you a hard time about not displaying their signs, posters and counter hogging stands. They will actually send their reps unannounced and start bothering your customers to download their spam program. Some facts about smartphone programs Only 10% of your customers will be interested if that Only 25% of those will download it Only 1% of your total customer base will use it once Your customers WILL be spammed in your name Be smart there are much better alternatives to Customer Loyalty than bogus Chatterfly style programs. Finally, once again, call other businesses that have failed with it, because none have succeeded. |
