Charter Communications posted payment to someone elses account Houghton, Michigan |

I missed one payment on my charter account, of course my fault, and as expected the next month they said it has to be paid or disconnected. I paid 2 weeks before the disconnect notice, and kept the "confirmation number" just in case. I had a call the m orning I paid, and I told the man I just paid and he said he would put a note on the account saying "will by pay tuesday" assuming the payment would clear by then (this was a thursday). The payment cleared my account on Monday morning. Tuesday i received another call froma nother man, and told him the payment has cleared my bank account already (I offered him the confirmation number and he refused) he told me that he would put a note as paid. Three days later a friend of mine who happens to work at charter, was sent to disconnect my internet (my only service through charter) asking me what was going on, I explained that I paid, and offered the confirmation number to multiple reps and nobody wanted it. He called the office and asked if he could hold off the disconnect until I got off work and could come up there and figure it out. They refused and told him to disconnect. I called the customer service line and the lady said there were two accounts, which didn't make sense to me, and she couldn't explain it well enough for me to understand and then called me by another name, i corrected her, and she didn't do it again. Again, slightly confused, but no explanation for where my payment went. so I went into the local office the next day with my bank statement and the confirmation number. She said it would take 3 days to locate where my payment went. I mentioned the name that the customer service rep called me, and sure enough there was my payment. Posted two weeks prior. They want me to pay a $50 reconnection fee for my billl that was paid before the disconnect date and wouldn't give me any time to come up there and figure out. I refuse to pay the reconnect fee so now I'm without internet, as this issue has not been resolved, all I've gotten is an almost 500 bill for two cable boxes and the router. (and whole list of other stuff that I have never received). I do not suggest this company, and can almost guarantee I won't be back. The ONLY reason I would is because I live in a very rural area and only have the option of AT&T or charter internet. And I sincerely doubt AT&T will put me through the same hassle charter has. |
