Century Photo Products Century Business Solutions will not refund credit card. Items continue to be on back order. Internet |
11th of Apr, 2011 by User707593 |
I ordered photo albums and sleeves from Century Photo Services in November, 2010. My credit card was charged at the time of the order. I cancelled the photo albumns immedicately and did receive a credit on my credit card for the albums. The photo sleeves were on "back order". In January I called and they did not expect them until the end of February. I cancelled the order January 24, 2011 and requested a refund on my credit card. After numerous calls and unbelievable excuses - "our accounting department moved and will take a few days" to you need to speak with Taylor Clark who never answers his phone and does not return telephone calls - I still have not received a refund on my credit card. |

I am also watiing on a refund of $388 dollars for an order I cancelled on April 20, 2011 but had made in June! of 2010. They say they are writing checks out by hand! and will be 5-8 weeks. Unbelievable. I am just hoping I can get my money back. |

Sounds like I wrote these previous posts.
I ordered the photo albums and pages originally in May 2010. After few months of waiting I cancelled the order and my credit card was credited. I made the stupid mistake of reordering them in August 2010, thinking they were now available. I get continued excuses and run around. I requested a refund at the beginning of March 2011, but saw nothing. At the beginning of May I was told a "check" should have been issued, and Diane said she would turn it over to a supervisor, who had to approve it. I spoke with Tayor May 24, and he gave the story about the billing dept. moving, and refunds would start the 2nd week of June. This is sure no way to run a business! I never dealt with a business that would keep my money for such a long time, without being able to deliver the product. |

I just called today. My first question was, "Has anyone reported your company to BB or Comsumer Affairs? He said I should google this question so I did while talking to him. I said that I was reading they don't refund $ even though they never ship out the products.
I ordered $121.22 in March to do a WINTER photo album project while shut in during the snow. I was told that the plastic materials that they ran out of would be available in mid April. It is now May 25th. I then said enough is enough after he told me that people love the product so much they are willing to wait. I was told they would hand write a check but could not return the money onto my American Express acct. I was told that in 10 - 15 days I should receive a check, but from what I am reading, this is a night mare. I told the man Charles that if I did not get my money back in a GOOD check that I would have Shame on You from FOX FIVE television knock on their doors and embarass the owner on national tv.
I'm contacting American Express next.
Lets all keep in touch

I'm in the same situation. I used to be happy with this company (Century Photo) going back 30+ years when they were called 20th Century Plastics. I even ordered & received products as late as 2009. Then I placed an order in November 2010 and waited until February 2011 to inquire about my order. I was told that their source of raw material was gone and they were looking for another and to give them another month. I called back in March, same story. I called back in April, same story. So I said I want a refund. They said 1 month. I called back in May, they said one month. Now its June. I haven't called yet and I'm getting tired of the run-around.
If I never get my money I wont go broke. my order was 70 some dollars. I've seen all the complaints, the BBB rating of 'F'. But what I haven't seen is an explanation as to what happened to the company. Did an original owner die and some jerk son take it over? Did a group of Wall-street execs take it over just to squeeze all the cash out of it they can? Has it been outsourced? Does anyone have any idea just what it was that turned this company 180 into the crapper?

After reading the above postings, My heart sank. I too ordered Plastic Photo Sleeves in August 2010. After not receiving them and 3 phone calls I cancelled the order. I was assured they would place the money in my credit card account. But after talking with Nancy, Diane, and the supervisor Taylor Clark I was given the excuse that the accounting department was relocating, then was promised the funds would be mailed to me within the month. As of today and a total of 10 phone calls I still have no assurance that I will see my Money. What to do next? Cancer surgery didn't take this long. |

I would like to file a complaint, for the record, against Century Business Soultions aka Century Photo.
Our company ordered $452.20 ( order # E48052)of product on 10/1/10. we were told the product is on back order. after waiting several months we asked for a refund. We were told it would be coming in 30 days by check. It never came, we phoned and again we were told it would be 30 days. No check. Then after repeated calls they said they would issue a credit to our credit card. This never happened. After repeated calls to the company and getting no live supervisor to speak to I would like to lodge as many formal complaints as possible, before taking them to court.
We have dealt with them since 1993 when they were New Century Plastics, and they used to be a reliable company. They are now an internet rip off organization !
I was given the same excuse, the accounting Dept would have it to us in 30 days...NOT ! |

Sounds exactly like what I have been going through with them! Mr. Clark must be the fall guy. Now they put me on hold and don't ever come back. Supervisors are ALWAYS "out to lunch"; put in to their voice mail which is always full; then disconnected. |

I was just about to order some sleeves but now have enough hesitations that I will wait for clouds to clear.
Does anyone know of an alternative vendor for heavy duty / c thru sleeves ? I've searched Amazon and Staples and only come up w. inferior products from other vendors (ie. C-Line).
Thanks |

I filed complaints with FTC, BBB, and California Attorney General. Maybe if we all file then something will be done. For the FTC web site, I chose 'Other', 'Other', and 'General Merchandise Retail by Internet'. If you file a complaint you will see what I mean. Good luck!
I placed an order Sep 30, 2010 for $132.75. The full amount was charged immediately to my credit card, but I only received a $5 item from the order. I called to inquire about the remaining products and was told they were on back-order due to lack of vendor with appropriate materials and it would be about a month. I accepted this wait and called again only to be told the same story. Finally I asked for a refund and as of Aug 26, 2011, I still have not received it. I was told my credit card could not be refunded then the check would be mailed within a few weeks. I have made 29 phone calls attempting to get resolution from Taylor Clark as Customer Service Supervisor, Sheila Williams as Call Center Supervisor, and Stephen Johnson as Assistant to President. I was refused connection to Gabe Bristol as President, as well as, Accounting Department. I understand FTC’s mail order rule allows 30-day shipment of product and if not available then credit issued to bank card within one billing cycle. Century Photo has far exceeded these time limits in violating the rule. If the product I ordered is available, I would like to receive it; however, if it is not available then I expect an immediate refund. My family and I have used the company since the 1980's with great satisfaction until this occurrence. It is a shame. |

Taylor Clark's email is [email protected] if you want to spam him! Perhaps if everyone they owe money to emails him everyday, we will get some sort of response. |

Same here. Ripped for $199.93 in product ordered and paid for on May 14, 2010. I've called and complained repeatedly and now cannot get an answer to calls to any of 3 or 4 different numbers. I've filed complaints with the BBB, California Dept of Justice and the FTC. Probably useless, but maybe it'll help prevent someone else from getting ripped off! |

I got my money back!! I was in the same situation as most of the people on this website. Placed order - charged over $300 for order - never received product - cancelled order - never received refund. UNTIL... I contacted Bernard Findley (I believe he's the president of the company). He can be reached at [email protected]. I never received any response from Taylor Clark or Gabe Bristol. Bernard was the only one who responded to me email. I too have placed a complaint with the California Attorney General and will provide all the details and names of people who were not helpful in the process of returning my money. Again - try Bernard - it worked for me!! |

I'm in the same boat with everyone else. About $37 worth of merchandise, ordered March, 2011. Century Photo immediately took my money, and I never received anything. phone call after phone calll, I finally got a human being. they gave the old "we'll send a check" routine. I have reported them the the CA Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau. and trying to post everywhere on the Internet. The employees should be arrested and thrown in jail. This is pure and simple robbery. i'll try Bernard today, and I'll keep my finers crossed. thankyou Wow. Margaret |

I placed an order in Jan 2010. I received part of the order promptly, but not the "kit" of albums and pages. This was the first time in over 25 years of ordering from the company that I was charged before shipment. Because my shelves are full of their albums and I wanted my order, I was patient with the explanations that they were trying to get the product. On my last two attempts to call the phone number, I have gotten to the system, but would get a hang-up before anyone answered. Today when I checked the web-site, it is no longer in operation. The [email protected] mentioned above also came up as a "bad request - invalid host name." After reading the posts above, I don't expect to ever see the $244 I was charged almost 2 years ago. |

I ordered with Century Photo for years and never had a problem. However, I placed an order in March 2012 and received the photos pages I ordered, but did not receive the binders. I waited until November 2012 and still no binders (albums). I called several times and they gave me some story about restructuring and how they will get the product in about a month to ship. I finally gave up and heavily researched other companies but had trouble finding similar albums for a similar price. I ordered from Archival Methods in November 2012 and received my albums in less than a week. Archival Methods was a little bit more expensive (but not much in comparison to other companies I researched) but now I have albums to put my pictures in and they even fit the Century Photo pages that I already received and paid for. I will order from Archival Methods from now on and I suggest you do the same. http://www.archivalmethods.com |
