CBS Auto Body Shop / Hornburg Jaguar LA has become my worst nightmare. My Jaguar XK8 was damaged mechanically by CBS during cosmetic body work - yet neither CBS nor Hornburg LA will take resposibilty for their work. CBS is the officially recommended body shop of Hornburg Jaguar Land Rover Los Angeles. The large sign at the entrance to the Hornburg Jaguar Land Rover Service Center reads: "Hornburg proudly recommends CBS Collision Center". The top people at Hornburg Jaguar sent me to CBS, and gave me numerous CBS business cards. I drove my beloved Jaguar XK8 convertible into the CBS Auto Body Shop for some cosmetic work: bumper and fender replaced, new lights, along with the necessary paintwork - no big deal I thought. My car still drove like a demon, as it always has. After 21 days of mysterious delays by CBS Auto Body, I found my Jag up on a lift at CBS, its hood propped-open, and UNAUTHORIZED MECHANICAL work being done to it. No one had ever informed me that my car had stopped running somewhere during the repairs. Another company called "AKA Eurosport" was operating out of the back garage, and doing some of the work without my knowledge or authorization (was this a shill for bad repair screw-ups?). The CBS staff repeatedly lied to me, until I finally discovered what was going on during a surprise visit. My Jag would not start, and had to be given back to me on a flatbed truck! Despite all the money my insurance and I paid to CBS, some original Jag parts are still missing fom the car. No offers have yet been made to compensate me in any way by either CBS or Hornburg. Neither CBS nor Hornburg has taken any responsibilty whatsoever. Hornburg Jaguar LA sent me to CBS in North Hollywood. Mystakenly, I thought that I could trust an auto body shop that was officially recommended by my local Jaguar Dealer. I also thought they would stand responsible for the quality of work. To make matters worse, I have been stuck renting a Hertz Rental Car direct from CBS all these weeks at my own expense. At this date, CBS has five different licenses on record with the California State Bureau of Automotive Repairs, some of which are valid, and others which are cancelled (see the State website records). Thousands of dollars out-of-pocket later - and more than one month later - I am still without my car, as my own qualified mechanic is still trying to figure out what CBS did to it. |
