I should have looked W. Jeffrey Brown up online before agreeing to work for him. I honestly should have. I responded to a Craigslist post for a wordpress programming position. I sent my resume and references. Within 10 minutes I had an email offering me the position. While speaking with Jeff (William Jeffrey Brown) we agree on an hourly wage. I set to work the very same day. The first two weeks went smoothly and I was paid on time. The following two weeks, things went smoothly until I turned in my invoice. No response. I contacted Jeff, who still had work for me to do. I heard "Sorry" and "I am just swamped" etc. Then after getting a little more concerned I tell him the money needs to be paid. He agrees. Asks for my checking account number and says the bank is 5 minutes from his house. He said he will just go directly to the bank and make a deposit. I say okay. A week later, after refusing to take calls, I finally get him on the phone and he says he will go that day. No luck. The Next day, a phone call, "I will go right now". William Jeffrey Brown went to the bank. A deposited (somehow) a deposit slip (no check) to my account for the outstanding invoice. My account shows a deposit. I head to the store to pick up things I have now been needing for three weeks. Bounce 1. I buy dinner. Bounce 2. Etc, etc. I confront Jeff about this. He agrees to pay the NSF fess. Meanwhile, I am still working for Jeff. I have turned in yet another invoice. This invoice is not paid. He demands a line by line account for the items that bounced in my account. I sent him a screenshot of his deposit resulting in the bounces in my account. He wants line by line. He will not pay until I show him where I spent my money and the resulting charge for each item. I am not willing to give him that much access to my life. Earn my trust Jeff. And pay your bills. I showed you a screenshot of your bounced deposit and the resulting negative balance. That was two months ago. I have hired a lawyer. As a matter of fact, he sent me the link to ripoffreport.com concerning William Jeffrey Brown and all that is included here is going into evidence for the case. Jeff doesn't seem to understand that people expect to be paid for their work. Jeff will soon understand Florida's Triple Damages law. After reading all of what Jeff has done to other programmers, writers and designers I honestly believe we could collectively file a class action suit against him and stop him from ever taking advantage of hard working people again. I need to say that this is my personal opinion of the man. I am not trying to defame Jeff at all. I have every email correspondence saved. I have all of my phone records. He no longer will answer my phone calls or emails. The only reason that I am pursuing this is because I have done good, solid work for Jeff and I want to be paid for that. See you in court soon Jeff. |
