Car City of Danbury I thought only women lead me on, not used car dealerships too! Danbury, Connecticut |

On Tuesday March 7th, I needed a car immediately and I was sick and tired of looking through Craigslist to find multiple vehicles within my price range that had way too many issues to list. So, I looked around Danbury to find a used car dealer and I found car city. I walked around the lot and absolutely no one came out to even ask if I needed any help so I had walked in. I asked the gentleman reclining away at his desk if they had any used cars for sale since I had seen no prices on anything. He replied, "Yes." We went outside and he asked me the usual "qualifying" questions that a car salesman is supposed to ask. Then we looked at a Chevy Cavalier. He said he was selling it for $7,500 then told me he can give it to me for $5,500. We went inside so he could run a credit check and we talked about some numbers and what my down payment would be. I told him all I had in my account was $1,300. He said that was fine and all I would have to do is come back next Friday to pay an extra $200 towards the rest of the down payment. After signing all the paperwork and shaking the salespersons hand, named Brad, he told me that I would hear back from them sometime tomorrow afternoon after they put it through emissions since the place was closing in 15 minutes. Wednesday evening comes around and I have yet to get a phone call. So I take it upon myself to call Car City and they tell me that there was something wrong with the emissions place so they will give me a call Thursday afternoon at around 1pm. Once again I had to call them and ask what the hold up was and I was told there was something wrong with the drivetrain in the car. One of the sales people tells me that the car will be done Friday afternoon at 3pm the latest! Of course that's a lie. My dad stops by Friday morning and asks what's going on and they tell him that the steering box needs to be fixed so the car wouldn't be done by Saturday morning definitely. So, today, Saturday March 12, they tell me that they had to put a new battery in the car since emissions wouldn't accept the vehicle because of the old battery. Now what confuses me is shouldn't they know the procedure pre-emissions testing? Also, shouldn't they HAVE a traded in vehicle looked at before selling it to avoid all of these apparent 'issues'? After talking with Brad today he began to tell me that if the car isn't done by tomorrow morning he will talk to the owner and see if he will give me a loaner car until the car I put a down payment on is fixed completely. I'm not going to do that, I am just going to ask for my money back because 5 days (including Sunday) without a car that I was supposed to get 4 days ago isn't acceptable. That place has lost my business FOR LIFE and Brad has lost all credibility. Ken in Danbury, Ct |
