Debt Statue of Limitations in AZ is 3 years for Open-ended Accounts. I've been totally disabled for over 7-years and they are sending me a Cancellation of Debt statement Form 1099-C to file with my taxes. I think this is totally unprofessional for those of us that don't have income or the means to pay. For over, 5 years I have used a service to handle this problem. And all other debtors have released me from these debts. So, I don't know why they are trying to beat a 'dead horse'. The file no is: 5291151444432643

Good advice. I am going to visit my tax professional/accountant today to see about this. My 1099-C was issued on 12/31/2010 for a card that was last used in 2001. I have to call Capital One and see when the charge off date was. It is sad I am still dealing with this 10 years down the road. Only reason they sent it to me is that I finally showed up in public records...they found me...so now they feel they can drag this out of the distant past and make me pay for what I did back in 2001! Unbelievable. The amount is 9, 800.
