I was doing an unlawful detainer and needed a process server to serve the documents. He calls himself chief mike, he offered a discount to serve documents, if unsuccessful after the third attempt, he would post without additional charge. After having the court papers I emailed him, it took two days for him to call me and tell me a had a form missing, which was untrue since the self-help resource center at the court had looked over the forms I was filing and said it was complete. He said they had a hard time finding the address, which is hard to believe. I kept calling to see if he had served the complaint to my tenant but he kept saying they attempted but tenant was not coming to the door. He then told me he would email me the documents that I would need to file at the court in order to post documents on the door. The document he emailed me had different dates for the attempts to serve, than the dates he mentioned over the phone. When I got to the court, the clerk told me I needed to file an application to post, together with an original document from the process server, not a copy. Or if it was a copy he should have given me a code to give to the clerk at the court. By now I was feeling frustrated with his service. When I left the court I called him, he said he didn't know what code the court was talking about. He said I could drive to his office, which would probably take an hour with traffic, to pick up the original document. By then the court would have been closed, so that's another day wasted. He kept saying how he was going to do me a favor and give me a form to file together with the document, as though trying to make up for the bad service. Turns out he was offering the application to post which I can download and/or get it free at the court house. By now I was just angry for the wasted days, I needed those tenants out so my husband and I could start repairs and get that unit rented out. That same day I contacted a different process server -ubeenserved- at 5pm I emailed the documents, at 7pm he called me to say they had been served. He mailed the court the correct documents, had them stamped, and mailed to me. Chief Mike at California Municipal Process still charged me and got nothing done for me. |
