I wanted everyone to know my absolutely horrible and despicable experience with Crosspoint Transportation in Burlington, ON. I would never use these unprofessional liars. I know these are strong words but I have been booking my own freight for 21 years and never have I had a negative experience that topped this. The lies, poor communication and the classic example of the left hand not having a clue what the right hand is doing. I know this is long but wanted all the facts out there on this one. Thursday March 24th. I scheduled a pick with Mark Winiarz at Crosspoint. I gave all the details needed to him as I am very detail oriented. He quotes me $695.00 All In for four pallets to Portland, OR. (I have his email to prove this). The quote is important and I will touch on that later below. First screw up: I mentioned no less than three times that we need a high cube as the pallets are very tall. Mark farmed this out to Polaris Transport. Polaris arrives with a str8 truck. So I have to keep staff in overtime after 5pm to break down all the pallets. I asked the Polaris driver if he was told that we needed a straight truck. He showed the text on his phone from his dispatch that there was no mention of truck height. So I called the Polaris dispatch office and spoke to Rick and asked him is mark at Crosspoint requested a high cube trailer and if so why we got a straight truck to our door. Rick at Polaris told me that Mark never ordered a high cube. Not once was that mentioned. Meanwhile when I asked Mark twice at least to make sure the truck was tall ( I gave him our pallet heights on the phone and on a fax cover) he told me "No problem Kev", or "yes for sure we will". So there was LIE #1. Or brain not knowing what the mouth was saying? So I had to take pictures of the now 6 pallets after we tore them down and I emailed Rick at Polaris the pallet pictures before tearing down so they could rebuild them exactly otherwise Polaris would not easily know how to return the 6 pallets back to 4 pallets again. Rick at this point was noticeably not impressed and was visibly upset I sensed on the phone, and although this was not my fault as the customer, I did get the sense that he was wanting to bail on this whole order. So having sensed this and with experience under my belt, I called Mark at Crosspoint and said I sensed Rick was not too happy with you (Mark) right now and "will there be a problem"? This order was under a deadline to reach my customer in Portland so I was worried. Mark told me that everything was ok and he spoke to Polaris and they will simply build the 6 pallets back to 4 on their dock and all is good. I gave my Cell number to Mark as it was Friday and I asked him to please call me that evening to inform me that Polaris rebuilt the pallets back to 4. I said I would not be able to relax over the weekend until I knew that was completed. Well...Mark never did call my cell as promised. LIE#2. Now it gets interesting: Monday 28th. at 9:51AM Mark emails me (calls me Mark by the way... not my correct name) and he tells me Polaris left over the weekend and the ETA to Portland was Wed/Thurs. and that he will keep me posted if the driver makes better time. Monday the 28th. late afternoon I get a call from my customers Custom Broker (IFS) who informs me that he has not received a Paps as of yet? So here I am thinking how the hell did Polaris cross without sending a Paps? So I called Polaris and was told that they did not take our 4 pallets over the weekend and that they gave them back to Crosspoint. emailed Mark at Crosspoint and said Polaris does not have the freight. So who has it? Where is it? Did it cross? No reply...I called Marks cell. No answer and no return call. I am worried now as my customer will be irate at me. I then email Polaris dispatch as well but at this time of night there is no answer by phone and no reply by email. Tuesday Mr.29th. at 9:10 am I get an email from Mark that the 4 pallets are at Gapco Transport. I also get a call that morning from Mark and am informed of the same. So I call Gapco Dispatch and they tell me they do not have my pallets. WTF? I email Mark back at 3:30 pm and said where are my pallets? Here is my email to him: What the hell is going on Mark. Almost everything you tell me ends up being the opposite? I am really getting grey hair here. I then am told that Polaris still has them on their dock. Obviously I am pissed right off by this point. I am going to take heat from my long time customer and maybe even lose them. I am looking like an asshole now having to call my Portland customer and tell them the freight is still in Ontario after letting them know on Monday (yesterday) that it would arrive to them Wed./Thurs this week but the pallets are still sitting here in Ontario. I do my best to contain my anger and disappointment with Mark and tell him that he is not do do anything with my pallets and I have to see what I am going to do now. I did tell him that I am upset as hell and I am going to see if anyone else who I can trust can grab these skids as I was fed up with Crosspoint and the fact he has no clue as to what he has been telling me. I then asked him does he not see my point here? Understandably I was very upset and thought "what the hell did I get myself into dealing with these morons and with Mark that either lies through his teeth or doesn't have a clue what the hell he is doing. One of the two. So after calling a few other carriers I knew to see if they were sending a truck out right away and having no luck I called Gapco to ask if they could take control of my Pallets. John at Gapco mentioned that he did not feel comfortable interfering and that this was Crosspoints order and he was just uneasy interfering/stepping in. Sure I understood where he was coming from but I explained to him that Mark at Crosspoint has lied and screwed me over so bad by this point with my customer as the freight at this point will be 1 week delayed and I looking like an idiot. John at Gapco decided he would move the freight. But now his price was $800.00 all in. I had already quoted and invoiced my Portland customer for the original $695.00 all in quoted by Mark at Crosspoint last Thursday. John at Gapco would not budge when I asked him to this one time lower is rate in lieu of my predicament. So I called Mark back and asked them to stand behind their quote and make right on their horrible job so far and have this freight delivered out this week to my customer. Mark then tells me that I told him "he was off the job". This is incorrect.... I told Mark to do nothing until I instructed him otherwise. So he puts me over to his superior Doug who is either the owner or head person there at Crosspoint. Doug tells me I took Crosspoint off this job. I tell him that I said I was looking into my next move. (Who wouldn't at this point after all the shit that has happened so far?). He does not budge. I ask him to honor this job and said to him "are you going to leave me with my pants around my ankles"? He says "Yes I am". I could not believe my ears. I knew the truth here at this point is that he did not want to move my freight because he would have to pay Gapco $800.00 all in and then bill me $695.00 all in. This is why!! They "F" me over in the largest way, Mark lied his ass off to me or had not a clue what was happening from start to finish and then I am left in the lurch. Doug did not care at all that I would definitely pass on this experience to everyone I know in my industry of profession. His comment to that was "we have been around for 20 years and did not care what I would say" about this horrible mess and that I was left hanging here and lied to. This has been the worst experience I have had in 21 years of scheduling our freight. I am usually very forgiving and yes everyone makes mistakes, even my company does. The difference between many of us and Crosspoint is that there is not a whole series of lies, mistakes and then "the taking of NO responsibility at all" !! If you want to see how bad a broker can treat you , try Crosspoint Transportation out for a go.
