I went to C-1 Truck driving school Fort Wayne, IN. The training is a joke. They have a few trucks that look like they have been salvaged from a junk yard and refitted. There are two trucks that are not that bad but they reserve those for those who come to take refresher courses. You get about one hour to practice every other day. What piss me off is that they want you to sit idle in the sun whole day doing absolutely nothing for three weeks. They basically pick out four or five students every week and train them to pass. The rest of the students are fake. They make more money if you fail. If you are one of the lucky ones and you get your CDL you get to work for either PAM or USA. They pay you $300 a week as trainee for months with another driver. You drive 11 to 14 hours a day. On average you drive 85-90 hours a week. That means your earning is less than half the federal minimum wage. Out of which they make you pay the money they spent training you $45 a week. After about a week you and your trainee take turns sleeping in the truck while it is moving so the company keeps the trucks moving 24/7 and you get the shaft. Once you finish training they keep you at home waiting for a truck so long that you quit. You don't even get much of an experience to show to another employer. Then they bring a new trainee. I heard the companies also get $10,000 tax credit for every one they sponsor for training. From my group seven out of sixteen got their CDL. The rest went home $6000 in debt after taking all sorts of crap for weeks. PLEASE SAVE YOUR SELF FROM THIS SCAM. If you can't pay for your own training go to other companies such as Schneider National, Stevens Transport etc. If you don't get those companies get state unemployment office to pay for you. Almost all do. Don't fall for this SCAM like I did!!!
