The problems with Bonaventure are so numerous I am writing 2 reports. After sending my 1st report I noticed some typos, but most importantantly I put down a wrong figure..Please note.....If you are being charged $5000 per month, that's $60,000 per yr so the figure for 5 yrs is $300,000!!! OK...now onto the issues @ Sparks that family members, potential move ins & employees need to know happened between June 2011 to Oct 2011 under the tenure of Todd Robinson, ED who is still currently there. If you are a current resident or family member & find this report abhorable, I encourage you to contact Bonaventure Home Office & ask why these 3 people have jobs & are still taking care of your loved ones! This report is factual & can be substansiated. I have reported to the appropriate people such as Sparks HR, my regional nurse consultant & the State of Nevada when appropriate. I will first start out with an employment statistic particular to this building. There has been 4 ED's with Todd's arrival & he came when the building was 20 months new. In 2 yrs there has been 10 marketers, some of them temporary or training. There has been 6 Chefs & 5 RNs. I was in my position 2 years. 1. When Todd arrived, he was placed as a marketer. He in fact WAS a Resident Services Coordinator @ The Riverton building. Knowing that about him, we knew the present ED wasn't long for his job! Correct we were! Within 1 week Todd replaced him as temporary ED @ almost 40% of the salary they were paying ED #3!! Proof positive you get what you pay for Pam Gray!!! 2. Todd starting having an affair with the marketershorty after arriving in Sparks, which is clearly a firable offense under Bonaventure Policy if they don't declare it prior to it happening! One or both of them should have been termed! 3. Todd's 1st two weeks were like this... Day 2 he announces to management staff that he'll be firing the mainteneance director upon his return from his oldest Sisters funeral in Alabama, per Pam Gray's orders. (The timing is a little heartless don't you think?) Day 3...he proceeds to do this in the daily management meeting!!! Actually in some ways it was humerous, because in that meeting we are all asked what's going on for the day & when Todd got to the Mainenance Director & asked what was on his plate, he replied by saying "I guess I'm clearing out my office since you are firing me today!" Needless to say, this took Todd back a touch but PROCEEDED TO DO JUST THAT IN FRONT OF ALL THE MANAGEMENT STAFF!!!! The RN had the good sense to stand up & say she didn't need to be part of that. The rest of the females, once we overcame our shock that this was really happening in front of us, got up & did the same! The following week the female bus driver is being placed in Activites along with her role as bus driver, granted this happened on a Monday & I didn't personally witness this, but enough females did that were absolutely horrified....he told her essentially she shouldn't wear Bonaventure Polo's because she had such a cute figure, she should show it off!!! 4. Sparks office manager & Human Resource person (HR) reported this brazen, inappropriate comment to the corporate HR. One week after that he was promoted from temporary to permanent (as permanent as they get) ED @ Sparks!!!! WAY TO GO PAM GRAY!!!! 5. Todd makes a feeble attempt @disavowing "rumors" of his affair with the marketer by calling 4 of us from management into his office, individually & away from our jobs to show us a picture of his cat....yes, his cat....& proceeds to tell us she is the love of his life!!! REALLY???? He went on to say he was aware of the talk about an affair with the marketer, he didn't deny it, but stated he was aware of it, he obviously was trying a "pshyc" mode on each if us to shock us! I find that tactic interesting, as most of us would have respected him more if he would have shown us a picture of the then 3rd Mrs. Robinson....but his cat???? HOW BIZARRE IS THAT???? 6. When Todd created his business cards, he gave himself the title of "Administrator". Keep in mind he isn't & Sparks is "renting" a licence. Well it apparantly circulated to someone that didn't agree with the title. Someone called the building asking for a business card of the administrator & the gal that answered the phone obliged by faxing Todd's card to the number....GUESS WHAT??.....IT WAS THE STATE OF NEVADA !!!!!! Bonaventure received a handsome fine for that one!!! 7. Todd had requested I leave my keys with the lead Med Tech while I was on a 2 week vacation. While I was gone, he offered her my job if she could find enough that he could fire me for. So he declares "open season" on me in my absence with my staff. She proceeds to try to enlist the help of staff members AND RESIDENTS she feels she can trust.....THE KEY WORD HERE BEING "RESIDENTS"!!!! Well it backfired & I heard about it shortly after my return from Germany! What she was able to give him was out of context, explainable & certainly not even worth more than a brief conversation. Looking me straight in the face & in the presence of the Sparks HR says "Preception is Reality"! This is about as logical as showing us a picture of your cat!!!! BALONEY!!!!! THIS IS AN ABSURD WAY TO RUN SOMEONE OUT OF THEIR POSITION THEY HAVE DONE WELL FOR OVER 2 YEARS!!!! 8. It's a conflict of interest per Bonaventure policy to be both an employee & accept money from residents as an independant contractor. Somehow this got overlooked & under challenged for over a year. The same lead Med Tech that had been offered my job was the Nail Tech in the Salon, justifying that she is a subcontractor under the hairdressers licence. This is allowed to go on, more than likely because of the fluidity of ED's in that building until a problem arose! It was discovered by a resident's son that $1000 check had been written from his Mom's checking account & he contacted the home office & complained. This Med Tech had confided in the resident that she had huge medical bills that weren't covered under the insurance she had through Bonaventure. The sweet little resident offered to help her out & the agreement was payment would get bartered back!!! THIS IS CLEARLY FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION OF THE ELDERLY.....YOU DON'T ACCEPT MONETARY GIFTS!!!!!! This all happens on the same day that I bring it to Todd's attention that I'm being undermined out on the floor. When I did this, I had a good idea Todd was behind it, but @ the urging of my regional nurse he encouraged me to tell Todd what was being said & see what would happen from there......Well needless to say in Todd's mind he could justify what happened with the resident because the money had been repaid & he wanted her in my position, so she wasn't fired for this autrocity. What he didn't count on was that my position requires a nursing licence!!!!!! He couldn't put her in that position anyway!!!!! So that left the RCC position vacant & Bonaventure ot of compliance until they hire a RN that was eilling to take LPN wages @ $2 less per hr than they paid me!!!! The med tech was forced to make a decision as to what position she wanted to keep. So that left the Bonaventure residents without a nail tech & a RCC with Todd's lack of planning & judgement!! 9. Sparks HR admittedly stated to me that I was treated unfairly & didn't deserve to be fired on what little was presented. She agreed with me I wasn't given a chance since this all happened in one weeks time, (but of course it had to because of what Todd's intentions were & he knew he had someone employed that should have been fired , but he didn't. ) During this conversation, neither one of us knew that. She also stated she was aware that the marketing department highly influenced Todd to make this decision...Anyone see a common thread here that relates to personal & financial gains??? Why isn't there a better checks & balances when terminating a nurse? Todd lied to Kimberly Kent that reigns terror just like Pam Gray to get her approval. The regionaL nurse consultant wasn't even aware I was being fired!!! I called himself & told him, he was horrified & said in fact the instructions from the nurse @ the home office was to NOT fire me, but that the regional nurse consultant would be there in approx. 10 days &would work through any concerns Todd had. 10. The day after they termed me the marketer confided to Sparks HR that she truly was having an affair with Todd. Is this something reported but ignored because this ED is being paid sooo much less than the previous one? SHAME ON YOU...PAM GRAY, KIMBERLY KENT & KELLEY HAMILTON!! How do these people still have a job??? Is your bottom line so important to you, that you allow your buildings to be managed by people that have potential to do harm?? Take a look @ why you are not making your census projections...your reputation is in the toilet!!! People go elsewhere because of this & with consumer watchdog sites such as this, your reputation isn't being damaged just locally. Fix your reputation by working on employee turnover by paying better wages, having more realistic staffing hours so residents get what they pay for & hire intelligent, well meaning management personell that aren't on ego trips & try to change everything to suit themselves. Bonaventure truly does have a good concept, but it's the delivery that's not following the concept. Your ED's should have an actual administrator on site & be a mentor for @ least a year to refine them instead of this learn as you go mentality. I sincerely hope that those of you reading this post realize that how Bonaventure is currently being managed with Kelley Hamilton clearly NOT @ the helm "The Dream Experience" has turned into "A NIGHTMARE"!! |
