Bill Me Later Absolutely crooked! They even acknowledge they have wrong personal data but say pay the bill anyway Internet |

About a year ago PayPal bought a company called BillMeLater. Paypal insists they do NOT have anything to do with the operation other than to offer BML services on it's site for when you win an auction on Ebay, etc. What I was told was one could 'accidently' sign up for BML instead of paying using PayPal w/ a credit card. Oh yeah? When I use Paypal I click ONE button to fast-track my transaction, then I immediately pay off the credit card I use exclusively for PayPal (we live debt-free in our house). I've never had to put in my birthday, my social security # (and I would NEVER give that out online even if the 12 Apostles were guaranteeing a site's safety) which is what BML claims to have. They call 2 & 3x a day (illegally) they call starting at 8 am and up to 9 at night. I've gone over the problem with their billing multiple times. They agree the SS# is wrong, they understand I as a disabled woman with MS who uses a power wheelchair would have very little need for a jackhammer/nailer, but, they are sticking to one thing - my husband was frightened by them and sent them 106.00 (they were threatening him with jail, credit report attachments etc. Now they claim with 'interest, finance charges and penalties' the origninal amount (126.00) has ballooned to 178.00 - AFTER the 106.00 payment!!! For 20.00 on something we never ordered, couldn't use if we did, and scaring my husband to death with threats they've gotten the bill to 50.00 higher than what they say we originally owed! They said 'go to the website, you can sign on and see for yourself.' when I asked what the bill was for and when it was opened, etc. Their own website denies I have an account! I told the nasty rep (the only kind they have) to get me a supervisor. Took 45 min. She, too agreed most of the info on me isn't correct. I told that one she needed to sign on to 'my' website using the data they have and see what happens. She got the same thing- no such account exists. She said that didn't matter. Pay up or else. I asked her for her full legal name per the law & she refused (they all use fake names). I told her she was in violation of the law with the multiiple calls, threats and refusal to ID herself. I told her I'd tried everything to resolve this. I wrote to PayPal 3x and've never gotten a reply. The only thing I have left to do is contact the State Atty General and file charges. I told her I wanted to include her personally in the suit, that I had taped the entire phone call where she admitted that their information was wrong, that money had been paid in error so yes, they might actually owe me that money back ( if I could PROVE I wasn't the person who'd signed into BML that day) so I had absolute proof BML was trying to extort money. She told me that was illegal to tape without notifying the other party I laughed! I said not in MY state - as long as one party on the phone wants to tape the call it's legal. You can't tap a phone to tape people who are talking to each other over a phone legally but we were in a private converstaon... so how do YOU like it now! Bill Me Later already has literally tens of thousands of complaints and it's only getting worse. They know people are being wrongly charged and laugh at ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; |
