I made a reservation to stay in Big Horn Resort for one night so that I could attend a buisiness meeting. I took my 4 pound chihuahua with me. The dog goes everywhere with me and is quite used to staying in her crate in my van. It is very cool in the mountains and even though there were no "no dogs" signs posted anywhere on the property, I was prepared to let her stay in her crate in the van. I was there about 10 minutes when a very scarry Orin Carney stormen into my cabin and told me to leave. I said I would do so but I wanted my money back. He refused. That was all the money I had and had to drive back 10 hrs home after my appointment. I think the real reason Mr. Carney did this is because at the last minute I decided to bring my husband. The website clearly states that the (outrageous) fee of $125. per night covers up to 2 people. Mrs. Carney made an issue about it so I pointed out what the website said. After the frightening experience I was very glad I had brought my husband with me. It is hard to know whether Mr. Carney's behavior was because of mental issue or if his intentions were more sinister. I would never have been able to sleep that night for fear of Mr. Carney or his toadie handyman showing up unnanounced again. Also, the website states that ALL of the cabins have tv. I was not told that the cabin I rented had no phone or tv. I needed a phone for my business contacts as there is no cell phone service in the area. I asked for a discount and Mr. Carney just laughed. The condition of the cabins were deplorable. They looked cute from the outside but were filthy and delapidated on the inside. ( I would not have allowed my dog to stay on that filthy carpet anyway). I thought I was going to fall through the floors. I was afraid to sit on the broken down and patched together furniture or the very nasty bead spread. I can understand Mr. Carney's displeasure with the situation even though I offered to leave the dog it's crate in the van. I just wanted my money back or at least half of it so I could get another place to stay. When I arrived, Mrs Carney asked Mr. Carney which cabins were open that night and he read the names of every single cabin he had so he had no visitors at peak season when all the other lodging establishments were completely full. This should have been my first clue. Mr. Carney was going to make some money off of me no matter what. ( I guess he needed it with no other guests) In my view Orin Carney is nothing more than a smarmy flim flam man. |
