Bidrack
28th of Jun, 2011 by User287199
I read a positive article about bidrack.com on an online magazine, and decided to check it out. In hindsight, I wish I had done a quick search for reviews about the site - no doubt the alarm would have been raised in time for me to change my mind. But, as they say, hindsight is 20-20. So I visited the site. It looked interesting....maybe I could get an iPad for a bargain. The sign-up process led me to believe that signing up was risk-free, and the VeriSign logo on the site made me feel like bidrack.com was trustworthy. I was under the impression that my credit card information was for when I bid on an item. I remember being encouraged to buy a bidpack at that time, with the option to click on one, but also that I would get free bids for signing up. I am a tightwad. I would not spend $99 on bids when I have some free bids to try out first. I would remember choosing to do something so out of character. So I finished signing up, and checked out the auctions....and was disappointed (but not entirely surprised) to see that most items are cheap, useless things I wouldn't buy at a garage sale. And I forgot about bidrack.com - until my visa statement came in, and I saw a $99 charge on it. I signed back in to bidrack, saw that I didn't make a single bid, but that my order history showed the $99 bidpack. What? I called visa. They said first to call bidrack.com and ask about their refund policy, and to make sure I got it in writing including the word "refund," among other information. I called bidrack.com customer service. Not even a hint of the availability of a refund - they asked if I read the terms & conditions before entering my credit card information, and asked if I remembered seeing the bidpack on the top left, and said there was no supervisor to talk to. This company is underhanded at best. I will pursue a dispute through visa again, and in the meantime have emailed bidrack to cancel my account, informing them that I will go out of my way to leave negative reviews on every site I can. Let's see what happens. It's obvious that this is bidrack's modus operandi, and while I should have been more careful, they clearly misled me. I have been cheated, and I will fight to get my money back.
