on Sunday March 27, 2011, Shannon Benham came to my home to purchase my military macaw , scooter,, and a umbrella cockatoo named kiki.she was friendly and reassuring , and even drew up what she called a " binding contract". The agreement was , she would take two birds ,and sell me a sun conure. with payments of $150.00 being made on April 20th, May 4th and a final payment of $300 at a later date to be told to me by May 27th 2011. \ After calling repeatedly (as she had said she would be happy to have me do to check on my military macaw), i have never been able to speak with her again, I have left many many messages on her voice mail and answering machine. but have got no word back. When i call her house, the phone is answered by her daughter and i was told she was not home. The contract assured me as she also did in person , that she was overjoyed to have found a military macaw, and she would be keeping scooter as a part of the family. Within a week, both birds were listed on her website, for $1000 each. At the same time that i have never received even $1 as payment for my birds. I googled her name and was totally shocked at the responses from others i found that she has ripped off in much the same way . I wish I had searched before she left with my pets, I would never have turned them over to her. I have contacted authorities, the BBB and other agencies in response to being defrauded out of payment , and altho they know she has been doing this for years, nothing has been done as yet. I feel she should be stopped. There are reports of dead or injured birds she has sold people, and reports of people getting absolutely nothing when told their new pet will be shipped. The least she could do is answer the phone herself and be responsible for her own actions. |
