Please read my experience below! Avast internet security is just like the other antivirus businesses out there! They claim to be the best, you'll scan your computer through their "system scan" and you find nothing time after time! So you think that they really are good! But then all of a sudden they have a reason to try and get more money out of you! Today, I got up and was going to my facebook account, then all of a sudden "Avast's" pop up came up and said, "Threat Has Been Detected". I immediately got off Facebook, then tried my hotmail account, same thing! I hadn't even logged in to either, so how is it possible for me to have accessed anything that would harm my computer! Before this, I was always logging on to these sites and there was absolutely no problem! That's why I thought it was very strange! So then I tried youtube, same thing! That's when I thought of calling their customer care hotline! I was hung up on over three times! NO JOKE! After about the fifth time calling them, they actually called me back. While calling them I did do a full system scan and ironically from just visiting facebook, hotmail, and youtube I acquired over 3000 bad things in my computer! Funny thing is that just last night I did a system scan using avast's "system scan" and nothing showed up! So when I'm explaining to this customer care representative my issues about Avast not allowing me to access any website, he immediately assured me that he would fix the "pop up" issues caused by avast. He immediately only began to look in to my computer and began blaming other things other than avast! I told him to please only help me delete what avast detected and to make avast stop with the pop up issue that wouldn't allow me to access anything! That was the only real issue! When I scanned my computer and it came up with over 3000 problems it wouldn't do it's job to delete the issues! So that's obviously something that the customer care rep should have been able to help me with! That's what I'm paying Avast for, to detect something and be able to get rid of it! But no! All this customer care rep was doing was blaming me and my computer for their Avast malfunctions! I mean for goodness sakes, it detected something and it can't get rid of it! He should have at least helped me with that! Then he told me that one of of his "certified" technicians would help me, but they wanted over $300.00 from me! OUTRAGEOUS! Then what am I paying them for? Avast is an "ANTIVIRUS" and it should stop anything from coming in and should be able to get rid of these things! I once again asked him to please ONLY help me delete and get rid of what was found through their "system scan", he only kept insisting I pay him over $300.00! I told him, "no", because this is my second year I've paid for Avast and I should be able to get help getting rid of "detected" things. He didn't even try and get in to the scan log to see what was detected! The whole time it was all a sales pitch! So let's ask ourselves, why are we even paying for antivirus if it'll still allow things in and when you scan them, it won't help you get rid of them? Then to top it off the customer care representatives are only on a sales agenda and won't really try and help you! Avast is an obvious scam! In my opinion, they might even do this on purpose so you call them and get more money out of you! I'm just saying, because it's strange that just last night after scanning my computer nothing came up, then all of a sudden Avast claims to have detected over 3000 bad things in my computer from only visiting three sites in which I didn't even log in to! Then they want $300.00 out of you! OBVIOUS SCAM!
