ASUS 4myrebate.com Rebate Scam - Denies Receipt of Documentation - Denies Responsibility ?, Internet |
28th of May, 2011 by User960058 |
Based on the internet reports I've seen, I'm yet another victim of 4myrebate.com, the internet rebate processing operation for ASUS. I am not sure if this operation is actually part of ASUS or simply a company that handles rebates and similar promotions for ASUS (and maybe other manufacturers). Clearly, they don't want you to know, as there is no physical address listed. This company is clearly compensated or has some incentive to NOT process rebates rather than process them. Who knows how it works...maybe the less they pay out on behalf of ASUS, the more they get to keep? Just speculating but clearly their incentive is not to give you the money to which you are entitled. I purchased an ASUS netbook in April and within two day of receipt, I registered for my rebate at 4myrebate.com and obsessively prepared the documentation and mailed it in. Here is the correspondence I've had with these crooks so far: My email: "RE: Tracking # 1719132020141467 I mailed all documentation for this rebate on April 30. According to the USPS delivery receipt, it was delivered on May 5. That was more than 1 week ago, but your tracking website says "Awaiting Receipt of Documentation." How is this possible? {My name}" -------------------------------- The canned 4MyRebate.com Reply: "Subject: RE: Rebate Tracking Number 1719132020141467 (#8796-231051592-6647) Thanks for your email. hello. We have not received the documentation needed to process your rebate. If you want to speak to a live customer service representative we will be more then happy to assist you. Please contact customer service at 1-800-286-9146 Arnold" -------------------- So what do you suppose comes next? Yes, you guessed it. They simply get to claim that they didn't receive the documentation, but they'll consider it if I resubmit copies. Okay...I can give copies, but there is no way to submit a "copy" of the bar code cut from the box (only the Amazon receipt information), which means it's a "catch-22". Indeed, based on other Ripoff Reports, that is indeed how they work...next step is to deny the claim based on not submitting the "original" documentation as required. Thus, they put you into an endless cycle of frustrations until you give up...which is what they hope will happen with a large proportion of those who did not take photos of the documents and send the materials Certified/Return Receipt Requested.... ------------------------ My last correspondence is as follows: "This is clearly a scam to deny as many as possible and hope that some percentage just "go away" without their rebates.... I am reiterating the information here: The full set of documentation was mailed via USPS on April 30, including receipt and original barcode from box, along with the form generated from the ASUS website. Your website status report continued to indicate "awaiting documentation." Please forward to a supervisor. I'll follow up with the phone number below next week. In the meantime I will be filing complaints with BBB, State Attorney General in my state, and Ripoff Report. Sincerely, {My Name} ------------------------------ My consolation is that this was only a $30 rebate. I feel for those who have experienced these same issues with ASUS for much larger amounts. Although I may not get my $30 from this crooked rebate company, I decided that I am going to monitor their response (or lack thereof) and publicize this scam in every forum I can find. My feeling is: They can screw me and many others out of these relatively small amounts of money because they figure as individuals, none of us will bother to pursue them, but I'm going to make sure they get far more than $30 in bad publicity from this particular customer. I encourage you to do the same.... |
