I was renting an apartment from archstone Delray Beach where I delt with managers Joe and Beth and I read my lease to see if there was a clause to end my lease because the neiborhood did not seem safe and there was numerious in an out traffic and people using drugs on balcony and other noise issues. from the day i moved in I reported to the office all my concerns, also the apartment smelled like smoke and I there were at least three water leaks in the apartment while I lived in the unit that leaked through my sons matress on his bed also old carpet and it was not clean when i moved in which i documeted and sent complaints to manager in writing which they said they would address. I even called the police because of the noise it sounded like someone was being beat up it was just that bad. So the manager then said that I did not have to worry because the people that lived above me were late on there rent and would probably not be able to pay it. So in my lease it said as long as I had paid my rent on time which I did and gave a 60 day notice I could be released from my lease so i took all the measures to be released from my lease. They gave me a check list which I still have of everything that needed to be done and I did everything on the check list I even asked if I should have the carpet cleaned and they said no know I know this is because they were going to rip me off anyway. So to make a long story short I leave the apartment spotless which I took pictures of and only lived in for seven months and they send me a bill dated 3/4/2011 which i did not recieved till 3/37/2011 charging me in an excess off 8,852.18 they said they had to replace vinyl for 250 dollars which is a lye there was nothing wrong with the vinyl they said they had to replace the already very used carpet for 667.87 which had not spots that could not have been cleaned with a regular carpet cleaning no bleach spots no red juice nothing just regular people walking on the carpet plus the carpet was old also they charged me an autocharge which I is for 179.35 which I have know idea what this is and a punch of other outlandish charges then they went on to charge me for the remander of ny lease term after they told me they already was going to have the apartment rented So you can charge double rent on an apartment they keeped my 500 dollar security deposit. I would love for other people to be interviewed that have rented from these apartments to see if they have ever gave a security deposit back and to see if they always charge these trumped up charges I believe they do I was warned before I moved by someone that had lived in the apartments and had since moved that they make a habit out of this to me this is sicking that they have gotten by with this for so long I am going to do everything in my power to see that they don't anymore I am happy to talk to any lawyer or media outlet or any investigation into this company The regional manager karen or deon or even the corporate headquarters maybe they all make a habit out of ripping people off they don't seem to be concearned about this irreparable behavior maybe this is pocketed side money they keep who knows but I am going to fight this all the way.
