AMP Alarm AMP Security LLCM AMP Alarm has stolen money from my bank account, and say I renewed a 60 month contract with them, which I did not. Ore |
30th of Dec, 2010 by User722269 |
I noticed an unauthorized charge for $39.99 from my bank account by AMP Alarm in December, 2010. I have never heard of this company before. I had previously used an alarm company named North Star Alarm based in Orem, Utah, which I signed a contract for 36 months, beginning May, 2005 and I discontinued their services in Oct, 2009, which more than fiulfilled the contract. I contracted with a new company, which also withdraws the monthly fee from my account. It seems unusual that North Star and AMP are both based in Orem, Utah. So has North Star changed it's name to AMP? It looks likely that perhaps they are one and the same company. When I called to question the charge, I was told that they have a renewed 60-month contract with me, which is a total lie. I have filed a claim against them with my bank and the police department.

Hello,
My names is Chelsey, I am an online representative for AMP Security, I just wanted to clarify a few things for you.
You initially signed your contract with North Star Alarm. Two of the owners of North Star Alarm decided to break off from that company and start their own. When they did this, they agreed to split the accounts. (The contract enables them to do this.) The former owners of North Star Alarm then started the company AMP Security. The reason why your system is being billed after the 60 months is this:
On the contract you sign up for an initial monitoring term. Most customers stay with the company long after this, because most customers do stay, they add a term that says you must cancel prior to the renewal period or you will agree to stay another term. They do this automatically so that customers that do not remember to renew, are not left without monitoring.
I hope this clarified what is happening on your account. If you have any further questions regarding this, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
Thanks, |
