ALLSTATE LEGAL SERVICES THREATENING CALLS ABOUT PAYDAY ADVANCE UNKNOWN, California |
14th of Mar, 2011 by User628842 |
I have been constantly called and threatened by this company about payday advance. They have asked if I have an attorney, and threaten to send a case investigator to my physical and work address. The same people are always on the phone,no matter who you call, and to whatever number you call. They refuse to let you interject into the conversation, and are reading from a script. It is highly annoying and very intimidating. My question is,is it actually legal? |

I have been called at work by a John Smith, Mark Harris, Jason Connor. The person who calls has a thick accent from the middle west. He sounds to me like the same person. He informs me of charges being brought against me. He tells me he will tell me of these charges if I do not interrupt him while he speaks. He sounds to me like he is reading from a script. The charges are fraud, refusal to pay a federal loan back and another charge that I cannot understand. He tells me that I received a loan from Cash Net and never repayed this loan back. I ask to speak to his supervisor and he puts another person on the phone that sounds like him. He knows my ss#, bank name, email address and address. He tells me if I don't pay the amount of $764.21 that I will be drug out of my house and arrested. I tell him never to call my work again, and that I am calling the police. He gets so angry, so I keep repeating myself until I finally hang up on him. |

A guy just called me saying his name is William Turner with a very thick Indian Accent, in my mind I started thinking how can a William Turner have such indian accent, but that's by the way. He said I owe Cashnet $300 but since I didn't pay it back, they r going to charge me to court, and taken into custody for 2days. I was so upset I cursed him out. He asked me if I have ever charged for any money landering, or any kinda fraud, I said Hell NO...so he said ok. I got to upset, that I hung up on him. I called my bank to make sure I didn't get any money from any one. Then I called him back, told him to bring it on, that we should meet in court...and when I asked him abt the balance, he said $502.11 and that if I clear it off, they won't charge me to court. Pls, does anyone know what I can do???? Any advice???? I'd go to the police department, but right now I'm at work and I won't leave work till tomorrow morning |

Hey all, I have been in the same situation. And I think I found a way to get them to stop and leave you alone. Now, 1st and foremost, I am just telling you what I did and so far I am going on 3 months without any more calls. 2nd, go file a police report asap. 3rd, beat them at their own game. When they ask you for your lawyers info, tell them that it is a case against you and you have the right to all and any information aand that you want it in written form. Next tell them that you might record the conversation for court purposes. At this point, if you have the means, do so. Then let them give you all the info. when they are done, ask them when and where the court hearing will be and that you will meet them in the court room with all your proof. by this point they should have hung up on you atleast once... If not, they'll give you an outrageous date like "2 days from today." Tell them that you haven't received any paperwork for a court date and that its too close, but that you'll be ready. Basically, act ignorant with them and ask them for the smallest details... especially the court house address, room number, judge... you'll get on their nerves as much as they have yours and they'll leave you alone. now, after the two days, call them back... ask them what happened? tell them you went, and called several court houses... the effort from you will get them to stop... |
