There are serious problems with the stone coating used on Duraloc,( now rebranded, or called Allmet )metal roofing panels. Do a goodle search using Duraloc Allmet stone coated roof problems, or do a search using duraloc consumer review. You will read about many others in Canada and the United States who are victims of this 50 yr. warranty, which is not being honoured. You will find that a numbered Ontario shell company, is very hard to deal with when warranty problems are reported. I have received unsigned form letters, and they require a $400.00 payment up front before they will even come to assess the problem. The last unsigned form letter basically told me that someone would contact me depending on time and weather. It all seems very vague. There only address is a post office box in Courtland Ontario. Here is a link to other sites, where home owners describe the problems with Duraloc stone coated roofing : http://forums.redflagdeals.com/home-garden-f53/12/ Look for the post by Consumer 1. It looks like many more Duraloc roofs are about to fail. It takes about 5 to 7 years in most cases for the problems to begin to show. It does not seem fair at all that Allmet, who bought the company, and now manufactures stone coated roofing, does not have to honour the 50 year warranty for previous customers, who bought their expensive Duraloc stone coated roofs in good faith, and are now stuck with very unsightly roofs covered in red primer, that looks like rust. This really lowers the realestate value of your home for resale, to say nothing of your own enjoyment of your home, and the stress it causes for the owners. |

I am a roofing contractor and a certified installer for Duraloc. I have personally installed 20 roofs using the Duraloc stone coated roofing. Including my own home. Everyone of the roofs I installed has granuals severly coming off. I called the former owner Alan Reid and asked him to come inspect my roof. I was out of town and told him I would be home on Wednesday so we need to line up a time for Wednesday. He showed up Tuesday morning at 6:30 am unannouced looked at the roof and mail me a letter stating the material was stored improperly and the house was improperly ventalated. It stated he would either give me $2500 or recoat the roof. I called him and told him noway it was 7 years old I want a new roof. Never heard from him again. I recently remove the Duraloc material and reroofed my house with a Gerard Stone coated steel roof. The material alone was over $40, 000.00 and I, being a roofer did it for free. I've done Duraloc all over the country they all have proper ventalation it was just a shit product and the liability insurance company for Duraloc should pay the claims. Alan reid is a crook! Duraloc is a Canadian company and the US allowed them to do business here so they should help out the Duraloc customer with the lawsuits. It's just flat out wrong! |
