Stay Away from - All State Relocation (ASR) of San Jose (US DOT # 2134364 / MC # 743245. I engaged ASR for an inter-state move and they were unethical, unprofessional and under multiple violations of the law, one of which was for operating without a license. In my case, they violated many of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Admin (FMCSA) regulations and held my furniture hostage for over a month, threatening me and acting very hostile when I attempted to negotiate a fair settlement. With more research, I would have seen all the complaints across the www lodged against this co. and its parent company ORI Van Lines. These companies along with Best Movers CA, Inc (US DOT1993699 ICC/MC NO. 704772) have been cited for multiple violations. For more info on them, contact the Santa Clara County's District Attorney's Office at www.sccgov.org / Mediation Services, and the Dept of Transportation at www.fmcsa.dot.gov - The Household Goods Program their number is 1 888 368-7238. To sum up my experience I had engaged for my move with ASR but the co. that came to pick up was Best Movers California, Inc. They violated FMCSA regs by loading our furniture without a final estimate, not providing a "Statement of Rights", intimidating us as well as flat out lying about pricing and billing. Their phone estimate was too good to be true. Also, their rates were exorbitant, their charges based on weight estimate were absurd and their packing material rates were twice the industry standard. Please shop around! If things go sour (and with these companies, they will) you can also contact Move Rescue at www.moverescue.com or 1800 832-1773 They did break two desks, several pieces of fine china and damaged several other items. I even have items missing. However, if I never have to talk to these people again, it is well worth it. |
