After sending my resume/cover letter in response to an ad on Craigslist for a janitor in the Kearney Mesa area of San Diego, I received the following email asking for my credit information over the internet before being interviewed. The web address given is fraudulent as well: Dear Applicant: I am excited to tell you that we have selected you for the available position with Rogers Janitorial, Inc. We appreciate your urgency and eagerness to learn more about the position. Hopefully the rest of this email will cover some of your concerns. We received over 200 resumes for this position alone. Be excited that we chose you as a candidate!! You were selected from over 215 qualified candidates to be considered for this position.As you may know, this position pays a competitive hourly wage, including benefits, and also provides potential to earn additional bonuses and incentives throughout the year. We are hiring rapidly at this time, and are prepared to make you an employment offer, provided that you satisfy the rest of the employment terms.This is a full-time position. Your duties will include making sure that your designated section of the building is cleaned and prepped for the next business day. It is a state-owned building. Some experience working in a professional custodial setting is preferred, however, paid training will be provided.To accept these terms and move on to the final stage of the hiring process, you must provide us with a current copy of your credit report to go in your employment file. Rogers Janitorial, Inc has a zero-tolerance policy regarding theft of our clients property. Your credit scores or payment history are not important to us; rather it is a means of verifying your identity, it will also serve as your acceptance of the position. Once you fill out the report, an email is automatically generated that notifies us of your acceptance, that in turn will mail you the times for orientation and uniform fitting. Be sure to bring two forms of identification with you to the orientation. I then googled them and discovered someone else had just filed a scam report 2 hours previous to mine. |
