Afinity Property Management ripoff Vancouver, Washington |

I posting this notice for all renters who are considering moving into Afinity property management Apartments especially in the Vancouver,WA area. My wife and I moved from a pretty decent apartment in another area of Vancouver, the only problem was no central air and we couldn't put a air conditioner downstairs because it was against apartment policy (all someone had to do was push it in and they would gain access) so we understood it and after 1 years there and thew sweltering heat in the summer. we set off to look for another place. We found a place in a great neighborhood and the complex was very clean quiet and peaceful. We settled in to a nice two bedroom with all the creature comforts anyone could want. The manager at that time was very nice and we built a good relationship. We never had any problem until Afinity Property Management took over the property and kicked our old manager out. replacing her with a rather unfriendly manager who was interested in nothing else but collecting your rent. It wasn't long after that, that we started getting notes on our doors almost twice a week telling us that our privacy would be invaded by furnace repair companies etc. That was a week after we recieved a $700 electrical bill which blew our minds twice over. seems that the furnace unit kept running and blowing cool air even after we turned it off. We could have tolerated to squeeky floors and over squeeky bath tub that sounded like someone squishing ten beach balls together when you stepped into them. Note (they threw these units up so fast till cheap material was used and you can really tell) when the next door neighbors walked around you thought someone was walking around your apt. Thats not the tip of the ice berg. What really got us is that they raised the rent soon as they took over and then demanded we pay our utility bills directly to the managers office. if your late on paying your utilities they put a 72 hour notice to evict you if it's not paid in full. They sent a notice telling us not to pay the billing company any longer and to bring your money straight to the office. Thats not all folks, The ultility company doesn't read your individual meter they do a mass reading and the management divides the total bill among the residence. You never know how much water you use because you never see your individual bill. They determine what you pay. We have never gotten a bill for under $100.00 this is every month.(This was never in our lease agreement but they claim it was). We would have never known why until we got a 72 hour notice because we still owed a small amount on our water bill.(How do they know what is owed, we have been paying a billing company!!) is this invasion of our personal information??. We wash once a week and barely use any water during the day because my wife works all day and I'm not here a lot of the time to use any water. When we asked why this bill was so high, they responded that we have to share the water expense with the complex and they decide who gets what by the amount of people residing in the apartment. HELLO!!! is this illegal or what??? . Since they took over, 24 long time residence have moved out and 20 more are schedualed to move next month. Isn't it in the managements best interest to hold onto their residence? instead of driving them out? We have had it and we are getting on the first train smokin outta here. Bottom line if you get sucked into renting from them have your attorney on speed dial, Cause they are gearing up to take the remaining residence to the cleaners. Renter Beware!!!! |
