ACS Law Department A so-called legal group stating I have a lawsuit for unpaid cash advance loans Multiple, Nationwide |

I was first contacted by a company identifying themselves only as a law firm working for the Attorney General's Office in mid April. Everyone I have ever spoken with has had a Pakistani accent and is very difficult to understand. The first man said his name was Scott Miller (odd, considering his accent), and that he was a lawyer from Houston TX. He said I was named a suspect in three fraud cases for un re-paid cash advance loans. When I told him I was unaware of this debt, he listed off my name, date of birth, ss#, address, and e-mail to verify my identity. (again odd, as normally people ask you to verify that type of personal info, not the other way around) He said I was e-mailed several times without response, and I would be recieving a notice in my mailbox the following day. The next day, I was called multiple times, and when I finally put my foot down stating I would not talk to them anymore until I had something in writing, the person again said I'd be recieving documents in my mailbox the following day. I stated that that is what I had been told the day before, and then the person used very foul language at me. (odd yet again, for a law firm) I said "Excuse me?" and they hung up. Calls continued to pour into my cell phone at a rate of one every few minutes. I let them all go to voice mail. I checked the first phone number with the BBB website and got the name ACS Law Department. There was no other information listed. The calls never stopped all that week, but later I thought little of it, writing it off as a scam. A few weeks later, the same type of calls started again from a new area code. After this, I checked with both state and Federal Attorney General's Offices and they assured me that they were not behind this and it was likely a scam. They keep calling, always from different phone numbers. Back to back to back calls, while I'm at work, while I'm on the phone with important calls. I don't know what to do! I have filed a police report, but will likely have to change my number to get it to stop. That will cost me $15 and a lot of headaches. I even called them back and told them that I had filed a report regarding this harrassment, and I needed their fax number to send them a copy. The woman took the case #, and then hung up without giving me a fax # or even her name. It's not fair! I don't know what they're after, and I don't care. Harrasment like this is a crime! |
