AAA Roadside CSAA Left me stranded Livermore, California |
17th of Feb, 2013 by User529042 |
My wife and I had severe engine trouble while climbing driving through southern california in February 2103. We were driving a gas powered class A motorhome with a jeep liberty in tow. Both units are insured with AAA and we have the AAA roadside plus membership. We crawled into an RV park at Adelanto Ca where I made contact with the roadside group. After being transferred 4 times and wasting about 45 minutes I was told the plus no longer covered motorhomes/RV's. This was news to me , I never received any notice of the change. The lady I finally talked with said she was in Northern California and why did I call here as she is in Northern California. This after 3 other agents told me I had the wrong person. Since AAA was not going to help me, I asked for a referral to a AAA approved garage which would at least give me some assurance on quality. She said she couldn't help. I ended up finding a mobile RV service guy who told me it appeared to be a blown head gasket and he knew of a very good shop in Hesperia. The shop had to pull the engine and found the problem was 4 bad intake valves. Now we were heading to a family function in Yuma so we unhooked the Jeep and continued on. We ended up paying cancellation fees for RV Parks in Yuma and elsewhere where no refunds were issued within 30 days. With hotel cost being quite high and no motorhome, we drove home. At home I looked at the terms and conditions of the roadside policy. It shows that I am entitled to trip interruption up to $500. I couldn't find anything on their site as to how to file a claim so I called. The woman also rude told me to down load the form giving me the web address and sending it to claims in Oakland. It turns out that was wrong information and now they want me to call another company named Alliance who underwrites this coverage. "Really" I said I need to do all this work caused by AAA? These companies make it so hard to collect that you give up trying. A member since 1980 doesn't mean a damn thing. I will cancel this service and possibly my policy as well. Insurance companies are great until you need them. |
