A-Dee Plumbing & Heating Used cheap plastic plumbing hardware. Performed work incompetently allowing water to leak into wall. Damaged bathtub durin |

I have used A-Dee plumbing & heating for previous plumbing repairs & was happy with the work. That's why I trusted them again for repair of a leaking shower valve. BIG mistake! They replaced the pipes in the wall and the shower valve. They were also required to replace the handle & faucet with a single lever for hot & cold water per regulations. When A-Dee did the first repair, the technician did not seal the back plate & that allowed water to leak into the wall. I noticed it only because they had not yet plastered the hole in the wall. A-Dee sent a different technician & he applied some cheap caulking around the back plate and the tub spout which quickly wore away. I then noticed that the back plate and the tub faucet A-Dee installed were plastic. They obviously used the cheapest hardware they could find - on a job that cost $1,920.00. The first new shower valve they installed started leaking a few weeks after the job was completed. When the technician came to look at it, he tried to blame the leak on our old pipes & said we had to do a complete copper repipe in the whole house. He said "Sand & other particles from our city's water supply and our old pipes were causing damage to the new valve & stem & we would have to replace all our pipes to fix it. I didn't buy that sales pitch because if that were true, the whole neighborhood would have the same problem because they also get their water from the city supply. When I explained that to the technician/scam artist, he then removed the valve stem & cleaned it & saw that it still leaked (which obviously meant it had nothing to do with our water supply or our pipes.) He then phoned his boss & said it was still leaking. His boss instructed him to replace only the valve stem - not the whole valve. A couple of months later, the shower handle developed looseness - movement before turning the water on or off. I phoned A-Dee & they sent the same technician/scam artist who tried to sell us a copper repipe. He tried the handle & said, "I don't see what the problem is." I said, "You mean you actually don't see that the handle is loose?" He said, "Well, it's normal for the handle to get loose after some use." |
