95epay Fraudulent Payment Gateway Guangzhou, China Internet |
2nd of Jun, 2011 by User588790 |
95epay claims to be a 'payment gateway' for a number of internet shopping sites based in China. We had an issue with one of their customers - www.yescostumes.com - who were copying images of our products on their site and refused to take them down when we complained. Normally, if you report the merchant to their payment gateway provider, that organisation (which might be Visa, Mastercard, WorldPay, PayPal etc) will investigate on your behalf and get the merchant to remove the offending items, since genuine payment gateways have to sign agreeements with the credit card companies they represent that they will not deal with sellers who are hawking fake goods or infringing copyright. So we took our complaint to 95epay, who were the payment gateway provider. 95epay responded to our complaint by insisting on proof that, first, we were genuine Directors of our company, and second that our Directors were authorised to act for the company (!). Even when we sent them copies of our Annual Report and our company entry at Companies House in London, they refused to accept them as 'legal documents' and refused to take any action against the seller who was infringing our copyright. Furthermore, when we placed an order using an expired credit card through their payment gateway, it was duly authorised without question! We think that 95epay is a fraud, and is simply there to collect credit card details which they then sell on to crooks. From a trawl of the web, there appear to be other buyers who do not trust them or have had bad experiences. We would strongly advise anyone seeing a site using the 95epay payment gateway not to do business with them or give them any details of their credit cards.
