A job proposal was written by Mr. Bill Ragsdale of 904 Concrete, Inc. on 06/30/2011 to install a 43' x 7' driveway and a 23' x 3' sidewalk at my home. The total price at the time of the proposal was $1350, with a $600 deposit upfront required. On 07/07/2011 he came back to my home and said I would be better off if I enlarged the driveway so I could park both my cars side-by-side so I wouldn't have to move them all the time if one was parked in front of the other. I thought this was a good idea at the time. At this point he quoted me an add-on price of $550 with a $300 additional upfront deposit. Keep in mind he has collected $900 and still has not done any work. The pour actually took place on 07-08-2011. According to the weather report rain was predicted all day that day. I asked Mr. Ragsdale was he sure it was going to be okay to do the driveway and sidewalk with the rain being predicted to last off and on all day. He told me he had 26 years in the business and he did it all the time. As soon as the concrete was poured he required the balance of $1200. He then proceeded, because it was pouring down the rain, to cover the driveway and sidewalk with plastic. I asked him was this going to cause any problems with the concrete drying properly without leaving any marks in the concrete. He assured me that this was done all the time and it would be fine. Well, it was not fine. The concrete, after leaving the plastic on it for five days, had made large dark streaks on the driveway and sidewalk. I told him that that was totally unacceptable and he told me that the driveway and sidewalk were perfect and that after a couple of weeks the streaks would dry and you wouldn't even see them. This was totally not true and when I asked him if he was going to fix this all he could say was that he wanted more money. This was because I told him the driveway was not 7' but it was 6' 6", which was 6" short. Also, I told him the add-on so that I would be able to get two cars side-by-side was not even wide enough for me to open the door to be able to get out of the car. Again, all he wanted was more money to make the driveway wider. I said, but, Mr. Ragsdale, you've already charged me for this and you did not give me what I paid for. He said the only thing he would do is make the width 1 1/2' wider and add 18" going down the length of one side of the driveway. I told him that that was not acceptable and that I was totally dissatisfied with the quality of his workmanship and all he kept wanting to talk about was how he could get more money from me. If this gentleman or a representative ever comes to your house to give you a quote for any type work, please don't let him take advantage of you like he did me. He offers absolutely no guarantee or warranty on his work whatsoever once he has supposedly finished the job. It did not matter to him at all that I was unhappy with his work. He told me I could report him to the Better Business Burea, take him to small claims court, and even call the TV station and report him because he didn't care. I am disabled and this man took complete advantage of me and he could care less. I am sorry this is not written very well but I am not very good at writing but I just had to warn any poor unsuspecting person or persons that might have the misfortune of him possibly doing work for them that he is a scam artist and a very smooth talker and will take you for as much money as he can. Please stay as far away from this man as you can because the quality of his work if terrible. He may have ripped me off but please, please don't let this man have a chance to do what he did to me to you. I am not a very rich person and I live off Social Security Disability and all I was trying to do was try and fix my property up because I live in a very old house and my driveway was in bad need of repair. Also, this man's wife comes with him and they really know how to put on the charm and make you think you are dealing with true professionals. He has a license number on his proposal but I did a search and could not find that number listed. Also, the cell phone number listed on the proposal belongs to a young man who says he has nothing to do with this man or his business. Please help me stop this man from harming anyone else. |

This just doesn't seem like the same man who did my very large driveway. I paid a little over 7, 000 dollars for a driveway and patio from Mr.Ragsdale and I am very satisfied with the look and size of both. I paid the same way half before the initial pour and the remainder the day of the pour. His wife and I signed paperwork and spoke briefly. They did what I expected and more for a deal less then the others who I had come by and price for me. What shocks me is you say they didn't care. Once Mr.Ragsdale had finished he and his wife asked me several times if I was pleased with the outcome. They came the next day and removed the forms.. Which are the wooden frames on the side of the driveway. And again they followed up with me on how I felt about the presentation of the work. They also take pictures to build a portfolio of what they have done. Im not sure if your scorn by something or if your accusation is true. But for the amount of money I spent I was satisfied greatly by the work from 904 concrete. |
