You will be approached by a youth who is colleg age, but not a college student, they may say they are. I have been approaced once last year and now this year in February. Youth has catchy trained open line and then tries to sell you that he is winning a contest and only needs a few more points...they talk really excited and fast as if to rush you into making the sale. The first one used Soldiers overseas as the charity, the one today did the same, and when I told him that was not true, he went into Ronand McDonald House as the recipient. It is an order for magazines by cash only. The youths both last year and this year did not have ANY ID other than a physical description of them written and typed on a bogus ID card about 6x3". There is no REAL company name nor address or contact # on it. The 1st one last year, even had a phone # to call and have them call back like a superviser and ok the sale...REALLY?Like that is believable! The 1st one was nice and even called his sponser who was in charge that hauls them around and had him come to my house and veriy -by his mouth-nothing substancial-the one today refused to call his sponser. The one thing that worries as much as people losing their money is the Youth soliciting. The one today actually went BERZERK when I challenged the program and asked for ID. He yelled at me and told me it was "People like me that ruin his day in the first place" as if this program was a sort of therapy for him! He went inside the restaurant for the parking lot we were in and began yelling for someone to call the police! He also called me curse words and said "F" a lot! He really went nuts! I lost $100 last year on the first one who tried me-because they said it was for Soldiers in the Mid East...and I was sympathetic to that. I know the soldiers never received the mags because they came to my house! They were also very overpriced. I think the youths they use from where ever this organized scam eronious group gets them, are also victims because they may not be aware enough and get "duped" into this because they need money. The sales are "Cash" only which is the first red flag. The no I.D. on them is the 2nd. I did the 1st last year and swore to investigate if I got the chance...today I met another of the same---this poor 21yr old boy who really lost it today. Please do not EVER give cash to anyone pledging a charity. Last year was in Upland CA and today was San Bernardino, CA.
