I had a member ship at the Ymca on 53rd street in Manatee County. Dan Yonko is the Senior Executive Director. Melody is the girl that I spoke with when I signed up. I have never had a member ship to a gym before..She had me sign papers and told me that when I was done that my account would not be charged after not showing up for 30 days. I called in April and cancelled my membership and was told that they would do this. I moved 3 times in the next few months and my mother had surgery and I had a stroke. I never did read the bank statements as they were so far behind. With 200 dollars left to my name and getting a bank statement saying that some one in Mantee county was taking out 33.00 for some thing that I had no knowledge of I called Mantee County to find out why..After several phone calls, I found out it was the Ymca !!! I called Mr Yonko to tell him that I had cancelled my membership only to be told by him that there would be no refund as you can not call one in but he cancelled me over the phone...This is very unfair !!!He took money that SSI payed me. He does not understand what a contract should look like and no other gym requires that you fill out papers to quit!!!! This is a group that will give you free membership payed for by other unsuspecting people whom no longer could use the membership. He said that he regualrly charges people whom have not been there for a year!!! If you have not been some where for a year no charges should apply!!!!!!!! Every one at that gym knew me and knew I was no longer going. You had to check in at the desk to let them know that you were there, No one has seen me for more than a year!!!!!
