www.shopgoodwill.com Goodwill Goodwill Corrupt to Core Aztec NM, Internet
29th of Dec, 2010 by User130710
To date I have had 29 transactions (winning auction bids) with www.shopgoodwill.com. I have been engaged in constant complaining to them via email since I began participating on their site. My quote included in each and every email is

" There is no disclaimer that is going to protect you from intentional misrepresentation or gross negligence irregardless of being a charity".

Notable instances of concern began very early as did my complaints. Responses I have received back have their own problematic issues. I have advised this organization on numerous occasions that I believed there would soon be a movement for a class action suit against them because of the things that I had noticed. That is why my complaint is here on record so I may be found and contribute.

The details of my problems with www.shopgoodwill.com are strategically withheld because these folks are headed into litigation if there is not something done on a large scale.

I continue to trade with them because of the uniqueness of whats available.

In all fairness, I do not believe that what is occurring with www.shopgoodwill.com is inclusive of every person or facility participating. My complaint is a formal notice of my intent towards them and also a warning to anyone doing or considering doing business with them.

The price of something may be inflated (fraudulently) but you can know what that price will be so you can decide to bid. Question everything using diligent common sense.Pay closest attention to items that are not tested and the reasons why especially when like items were tested. Of course you will find that the listings may include false statements about items that inflate the price and at the same time staff advising they were unable to give an opinion on a clock working because they are just not experts. They are after all rank amateurs who can only go so far in their little show if you pay attention and do your homework.

The people who speak out defending this organization need only be disregarded without the need to qualify the validity or truthfulness of what they say for a very simple reason.

"You cannot defend any of the operating practices of an entity that has no standardized operating procedures for its participating members".

Why this is true is not everyone is doing the same thing or following the same set of rules at shopgoodwill.com.

It is when an honest person convincingly defends a very reputable well run honest member store of shopgoodwill.com without clearly distinguishing them as being proof of the integrity of the entire organization that consumers are defrauded irregardless of whether the person making the claims realizes it or not.

Intentional fraud does exist inside of shopgoodwill.com so make sure you know what your talking about before you say "its all good".

I agree 100%, the biggest problem as you pointed out is there is no standard operating procedures for the site;
1. Complaining customers have little recourse, each branch goodwill deals with complaints and the results are wildly different
2, Almost every auction has a ton of disclaimers, "buyer beware" yes, but often listings simply leave information or misrepresent the item and that isn't right, take this item http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=8238134, for instance with $100 starting bid, there is no information to indicate it is anything of worth, it could easily be worth nothing based on the description, yet they are asking $100 for it somebody could easily pay that and be out $100
3. And, if this is donated why is goodwill trying to make $100 profit on it? Goodwill has done little to convince me when they sell a painting for $1000 that was donated that money truly goes toward helping anyone

I was so excited when I stumbled onto the website through a search engine. Shopgoodwill.com is a scam - no doubt about it. The weight of the gold jewelry is grossly misrepresented. I've purchased over 6
piece of both 18k and 14k gold, all 6 items were half the reported weight grams. It's a shame that Goodwill employees/representatives are hiding behind the good name of Goodwill to defraud Americans looking to help support the Goodwill cause and find good deals. It truly is a shame.

I have used this site and completely agree that some type of organized legal action should be taken. There is no one able to misrepresent with no recourse for the customer.

Before bidding on any item, be sure to check Goodwill's "estimated" shipping and handling charge for that item. Many times they are over inflated. The Goodwill in Spokane, WA charged me over $14 to ship one CD-sized package that the USPS would have sent for under $5. Another example is the $25 charged to mail one XBox controller weighing less than one pound. Shame on Goodwill, but shame on me if I ever bid on another item.

I am an ebay seller and was interested in shopgoodwill.com as I came across it. The complaints that I see on this website mostly stem from the bidder. Again goodwill is not making you shop at this site, I have looked at many photos and they are trying to show items the best they can. As for shipping, the bidder knows the shipping cost prior to shipping the item so I do not feel that that is a valid complaint. I agree items should be tested to make sure they work unless it it such a unique antique item that is broken and the bidder is willing to fix the item anyway for value purposes. As with walking in thrift stores, garage sales, live auctions, and flea markets we must know what we are purchasing. Or we could very well purchase an item that is not what we thought its valued was. As for ebay I am a power seller and still have one complaint a month, most of these complaints are so bogus, but my policy is return it for a refund so that the customer is happy. Yes buyers have to pay for shipping back but I did not twist your arm to purchase item. So again as Buyers we need to be responsible and up on market values of items. As for a non-profit store selling items on the internet, why not it drives up there revenue. I do believe this money is being used to help the needy or they would not be allowed to do business.
