www.giftcardbuys.com looks like a real internet store and a legitimate site to purchase gift cards. They offer a good selection of the types of cards, whether for brick and mortar stores, or for a bank based gift card, such as VISA. They list viable accreditation, including the BBB. I placed an order for two VISA gift cards, to be sent to the same address. I was able to select the type of picture for each recipient; i.e., birthday wishes, congratulations, balloons, etc. A nice personal touch, I thought. The order was placed and verified on a continuing page, listing the order ID number, address of the recipients, type of cards, and a note that said I would receive immediate email confirmation. Two and 1/2 weeks later, no email confirmation and the status of the order is still "pending". I called the contact number 4 times, and emailed three times. What are the odds that my call would eventually be answered by the same customer service representative each time? Furthermore, that she would pass on my concerns to the proper department, and that I would receive email verification of my order, the status, and when to expect delivery. Lip service. After giving every opportunity, and even alerting them that I would be contacting the BBB, still no response. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the BBB logo on the order page was a direct link to the BBB, and the company responsible information was already filled out. Easy, right? I have since learned, via a phone call from a reputable representative named on the complaint, that they are not affiliated with the site selling gift cards. Nor were they aware of the ruse being perpetrated. Guess what? Now they know, and I am sure that the ongoing investigation is going to prove very enlightening for one company and very unfortunate for the other. Buyer Beware. |
