William LoVerme, M.D. Accurate Aesthetics Plastic Surgery Doctor Had Two Attempts to Achieve Cosmentic Results Desired. Not only Failed in My Opinion,
5th of Apr, 2011 by User882826
I consulted with this doctor regarding a nose job, chin implant, liposuction and gynecomastia. I was told that I was an "ideal candidate" since I had realistic expectations, knew exactly what I was looking for and had good skin quality. I expressed a desire for a dramatic change to my nose, specifically my profile, removal of my love handles and improvement of my chest contours and symmetry.
Immediately after the surgery, I noticed areas of concern. Incisions were missing from areas in which they were intended. I was assured that they had been deemed unnecessary once I was sedated. My nose looked stragely similar even bandaged and somewhat swollen. As the swelling subsided and no further changes occurred, I was told that an internal insicion was used as opposed to the extenal one planned. Apparently the only change was the removal of the bump on my bridge (one of many things I wanted changed on my nose)
My chest was dramatically lopsided and one half was retruded to the point that my nipple was almost invisible. I developed scar tissue that required Kenealog injections regularly to soften them. (An occassional side effect but one that worsens their already assymmetrical appearance.)
When I reviewed the notes from the hospital, it became apparent that my procedure occurred in a very short period of time and areas that were to be addressed apparently were missed entirely.
The doctor asked that I wait the necessary number of months to fully determine healing at which point, even he agreed that the areas could be re-addressed. However, relying on his consent form, he made me pay additional hospital fees to attain this second surgery. Managing a dental practice myself, I thought it best to give the doctor the opportunity to correct his shortcomings.
The second surgery was intended to retreat all the areas treated in the first surgery plus add a chin implant, thereby correcting my profile issue that the nose job was now determined incapable of solving.
Apparently during the chin implant, there was an issue as it had to be removed and then was reinserted during the same surgery. The final result is a lopsided implant that is under resected on one side and over resected on the other. It puts pressure on the nerve on one side and causes pain. Two peers have told me that I will need to remove the chin implant and allow the site to heal for a year before it can be replaced. During that time, I will likely have sagging neck skin. The liposuction was again done in a manner so as to skip the areas of concern and only address the areas the doctor thought were deserving of attention. The doctor actually emailed me AFTER I signed the consent forms and advised me that he was not going to retreat areas already promised and paid for. Therefore the liposuction will need to be redone as will the rhinoplasty.
When I requested a refund for the procedures based on the failure to meet reasonable expectations and the statements of two other doctors stating the work should be redone, the doctor refused, hiding behind his consent forms, stating that I now has UNreasonable expectations and that the results I attained are well within the risks and possibilities mentioned in those consent forms. Apparently, this doctor seems more concerned with his legal protection than whether he makes his patients happy. Even on ratemds.com there are patients who have similar complaints of his refusal to listen to their wishes. I also think many of his positive reviews (immediately on the heels of any negative ones) are staff members based on names and initials. Seriously consider other alternatives. I intend to file a complaint with the Board and post pix of the work on realself.com and youtube.com showing the end result.
